Project “Youth of Moscow” implements a comprehensive patriotic education program. Since February, a patriotic club has been operating in the capital “Hero City Moscow”, which unites combat veterans, employees of departmental structures, and citizens awarded with high state honors. Thus, Andrey Landin, a combat veteran and participant in the special military operation (SMO), a member of the patriotic club “City of Heroes Moscow,” and deputy chairman of the Moscow regional branch of the All-Russian Kettlebell Sport Federation, takes part in the activities of the “Combat Brotherhood” and in humanitarian missions. In August, he joined the humanitarian mission. project “Moscow helps» in the Kursk region as part of a delegation of volunteers from the capital. His motivation for participating in the trip was not just to deliver things, but to see the volunteers’ help firsthand, share experiences, and interact with children at the “Orlyonok” camp. Some of the children lost their parents in the border areas. At the camp, the veteran was a guest at the open meeting “Dialogue with a Hero,” where he told his story and answered the children’s questions.
“Everything comes from the heart and upbringing. How mom and dad instilled it, the first teacher at school, the first coach — that’s how a person goes through life. Not everyone wants their help to be known, but they help sincerely, without expecting gratitude, because that’s how they see and feel it. The main thing is to make the world kinder and brighter. When there is love in the heart, peace will definitely come,” emphasized Andrey.
The humanitarian cargo sent included stationery for schoolchildren, apples, warm clothes, wheelchairs for the veterans of labor and war nursing home, hygiene products, and confectionery. At the same time, according to Andrey, the main need of the residents of the Kursk region is human attention and support.
A special place during the trip was taken by communication with local volunteers — young people who help everyone in need daily in Kursk and the region. Personal communication with young people is a priority for Andrey Landin, and he tries to meet with them in Moscow not in the format of lectures, but in an open dialogue mode. Only in this way, the veteran is convinced, can the most important things be conveyed. At the meetings organized by the “Youth of Moscow. City of Heroes” initiative, participants ask about many things that interest them, but the main topic is life on the front line, difficult situations, what helped to survive, questions about the timeline for the conflict’s end, and what they themselves can do to speed up victory.
Andrey began working with young people, including children, back in 2012, and during this time he gained important experience: the main thing is to listen to the child so that they feel heard, and only then can communication be built from a mentorship position.
