“We continue to develop the metro infrastructure at an active pace, not only in the capital but also in the Moscow region. Earlier, we extended two stations to the region — ‘Myakinino’ of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line and ‘Kotelniki’ of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnensky radius. They are used by residents of the Krasnogorsk, Kotelniki, and Lyubertsy urban districts. Moreover, by 2035, it is planned to build 12 metro stations in the Moscow region. They will be constructed in Khimki, Mytishchi, Balashikha, Krasnogorsk, as well as in the Leninsky urban district. After developing new metro lines in the region, there will be a total of 14 stations,” noted Vladimir Efimov.
The metropolitan agglomeration represents a unified economic and social space. The development of the overall transport system is being implemented step by step. By 2035, about 35 new stations are planned to appear, 12 of which will be located directly in the Moscow region. Thirty-three percent of the residents of the Moscow region — one third of the entire regional population — live in the areas where the metro will appear. About 600,000 people will use the new sections daily, and travel time from the region to the capital will be approximately halved,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin reported that the new development plans for the capital’s metro include the construction of about 35 new stations by 2035. The possibility to extend the metro into the Moscow region is the result of systematic work on forming the city’s transport framework. Thus, from 2011 to 2026, more than 270 kilometers of lines have been built and reconstructed in the capital, and 130 stations have been opened, including Moscow Central Circle and The Large Circle Line.
