Beijing, September 15 /Xinhua/ — China has already informed the embassies of the respective countries in the PRC about the procedure for collecting DNA samples from relatives of foreign citizens missing as a result of the recent mudslide on the China-Nepal border, said Chinese Foreign Ministry official spokesman Gao Jiakun on Monday.
The Chinese diplomat thus responded to the request to provide updated information on the search for missing foreigners.
According to his report, in the event of the discovery of the body of a deceased foreign citizen and the establishment of their identity, the corresponding information will be immediately sent to the embassies of these countries to organize subsequent actions.
Guo Jiakun added that the authorities of the Xizang Autonomous Region in southwestern China have opened a hotline for relatives of missing foreign citizens and will provide them with timely assistance.
