Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova congratulated the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky on its 160th anniversary:
“Dear friends!
I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the 160th anniversary of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky.
This is a significant event for the entire national culture: 160 years of dedication to high art and nurturing talents whose names are forever inscribed in the history of the world’s creative heritage.
Over the course of more than a century and a half, the conservatory has evolved from music classes initiated by Nikolai Rubinstein into one of the leading music universities in Russia and the world. Such brilliant figures as Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Iosif Venyavsky, Ferdinand Laub, and Ludwig Minkus taught here. Among the graduates are those whose names are known worldwide: Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Scriabin, Sviatoslav Richter, Mstislav Rostropovich, and many other outstanding masters.
Today, as before, in an atmosphere of the highest exactingness and sincere love of music, teachers work at the conservatory, carefully passing on the traditions of the Russian performance school to new generations of students. It can be said with full confidence that Nikolai Rubinstein’s dream has come true: graduates of the Moscow Conservatory are awaited on the best stages, and their art serves to multiply Russia’s glory!
On this festive day, I sincerely wish the students, graduates, and the entire conservatory team inspiration, inexhaustible energy, and the realization of all creative plans. May the music born within these walls always sound deeply, touching the souls of millions of listeners.”
