In the southeast and northwest of the capital, three new dedicated lane sections with a total length of over a kilometer have been introduced. “By the instruction of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to introduce new dedicated lanes in the capital. Since September 12, thanks to the joint work of specialists from the State Public Institution ‘Transport Organizer’ and the Traffic Management Center, three sections of new dedicated lanes have appeared in two districts of the capital. Buses and electric buses will be able to travel along these streets on average two to four times faster. At the same time, the changes will not affect the speed of other vehicles,” said Maxim Liksutov.
On Stavropolskaya Street, a dedicated lane was created on the section before the intersection with Sovkhoznaya Street. Four bus routes pass through here. Now, city transport will be able to travel this segment three times faster.
On Svobody Street, a dedicated lane 600 meters long stretches from Fomicheva Street to Aleshkinsky Drive. Travel time will be reduced for city transport operating on eight routes. Four of them were created as part of the “Moscow — Region” project.
A new dedicated lane has opened on Volzhsky Boulevard in the section before Okskaya Street. Its length is 150 meters. The travel time on this stretch will be reduced for vehicles on three routes. More than 10,000 passengers use these routes daily.
These decisions increase the efficiency of the city’s ground urban transport. Today, Moscow operates one of the largest systems of dedicated lanes, covering about 520 kilometers of roads across all districts.
Dedicated lanes reduce travel time for buses and electric buses by an average of two to four times and decrease the risk of traffic accidents by approximately 25 percent.
