By the end of 2026, the Moscow Transport Museum will expand its publishing portfolio by releasing five new books. These include a continuation of the popular series ‘The Life of Remarkable Machines,’ a collection of works by young writers and poets about the city, catalogs of exhibitions dedicated to transport design in Russia and art in the Moscow metro, as well as a picture book for children about river urban transport.
“One of the priority areas of the Moscow Transport Museum is publishing activities. We regularly release scientific and educational as well as children’s literature, exhibition and collection catalogs. By the end of 2026, five new books will be published, including a children’s edition about the emergence of river electric ships. By order of Sergey Sobyanin, we support projects that popularize transport culture,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Book publishing is one of the main activities of the Moscow Transport Museum. The publishing service produces exhibition and collection catalogs, popular science and fiction literature, as well as books for children.
“The Publishing Service of the Moscow Transport Museum was established when we realized the need not only to preserve but also to popularize transport heritage. And if exhibitions serve this purpose temporarily, books are eternal. A book becomes a continuation of the exhibition, its home version, which is why catalogs hold a special place in our program. This year, we will present the catalog of the exhibition “High Underground,” in which we have collected and systematized unique materials from our extensive scientific research dedicated to works of art in the Moscow Metro. Our books are guides to a comprehensive study of transport for everyone interested in topics of history, technology, the modern structure of the city, and the culture of movement,” said Oksana Bondarenko, director of the Moscow Transport Museum.
Picture book for children “Where Does the Titmouse Work?”
The Moscow Transport Museum’s children’s literature collection will be supplemented with a new publication for preschool and early school-age children. Bright illustrations by Tatyana Borisova will show the development of urban river transport before the advent of modern electric vessels that can carry passengers year-round.
The book “Motor ship ‘Moskvich'” from the series “Life of Remarkable Machines”
The new issue of the series will be dedicated to the iconic river passenger ship “Moskvich” of project 544, which began to be built in 1948 at the Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. The vessel still transports passengers on the Moscow River. Readers will learn how the first river trams appeared in the capital and how the silhouette of the post-war “Moskvich” continued the styling of the small passenger ships of the Moscow — Volga Canal fleet.
The collection of prose and poetry “Time on the Way”
Together with the Alexander Pushkin Literary Prize “Lyceum”, the Moscow Transport Museum is preparing to release a collection of prose and poetry titled “Time on the Way.” The publication will continue the conversation about the city that pulls its residents into a whirlwind of various events. It will include personal stories of contemporary writers, poets, and prose authors connected with the capital.
Exhibition catalog “You Look 100%”
The publication is dedicated to the history of transport design in Russia. The book tells how artistic design in the field of transport originated and developed over the past century: from personal cars and motorcycles to electric vessels and unmanned taxis.

The exhibition catalog of the Moscow Transport Museum and the Museum of Moscow is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the capital’s metro.
