Summer for the participants of the project “Moscow Longevity» — traditionally a time for active outdoor events. This season, the program combines sports, excursions, and eco-educational walks.

“The ‘Moscow Longevity’ project has developed a wonderful tradition — to spend the summer season outdoors. Every year, we prepare a rich program for participants so that Moscow residents can use this time for their health, discover new hobbies, and inspiring places. For the fourth season in a row, the symbol of an active Moscow has become the ‘Longevity Workouts,’ which gather tens of thousands of participants at the central city venues — from the Bolshoi Theatre to Vorobyovy Gory. As part of the comprehensive program ‘Travel Through Life with Moscow Longevity,’ nearly 10,000 walking, bus, and river excursions were organized this season, with the total number of visits exceeding 120,000 times. Demand is obvious: 93 percent of those surveyed are ready to recommend such trips to friends and acquaintances. The main discovery of this summer was forest therapy — health walks in Moscow’s natural areas, attended by more than 1,500 people.””We are proud that ‘Moscow Longevity’ is becoming for them not just a leisure program, but a real way of life — active, healthy, and filled with new discoveries,” said the Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow.

Longevity exercises

For the fourth year in a row, “Longevity Workouts” are held in the summer. On weekdays this year, participants of “Moscow Longevity” started their day with exercises near the Bolshoi Theatre, on the Vorobyovy Hills and Triumphal Square, at the Northern River Station and VDNH, in the Muzeon Arts Park and Huamin Park, as well as at other venues. Over the season, the sessions were attended more than 18,000 times.

In addition to warm-up exercises, older Muscovites practiced Chinese gymnastics Baduanjin, yoga, ballet movements, and boxing techniques. Sports stars joined the training sessions. For example, figure skater Alexander Enbert led a warm-up in front of the Bolshoi Theatre, and the largest session was with three-time Olympic champion Vladislav Tretiak — attended by over 225 people. Additionally, among the celebrity guests were Wushu instructor and Shaolin Monastery Academy graduate Chen Geng, as well as international-class cycling master Alexander Popugaev.

One of the oldest participants of the “Longevity Exercises” was 88-year-old Galina Martynova. She learned boxing moves on an equal footing with everyone at VDNKh and in Gorky Park.

In addition to the central locations, charging stations were also set up near Moscow Longevity Centers in all districts. About one and a half thousand sessions were held there over the summer, which were attended 12 thousand times.

Excursions and river cruises

The program “Travel through Life with ‘Moscow Longevity'” offered participants more than 200 routes this summer. During the season, there were 7,500 walking tours, over 1,500 bus tours, and 500 river cruises.

Participants especially enjoyed the boat rides on the Radisson Royal fleet and the Flower Fleet trams. On 17 special trips, People’s Artist of the RSFSR Sergey Shakurov, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Emmanuil Vitorgan, and other well-known people joined them.

Health-improving walks in the forest

A new trend for the summer season has been forest therapy. About 150 walks took place along 11 routes, including in Izmailovo, Bitsevsky Forest, and the Moscow part of the Losiny Ostrov National Park. More than one and a half thousand people attended them. Participants learned to relieve stress by immersing themselves in nature through sounds, scents, and visual images.

The program will continue in the fall: eco-center experts will talk about seasonal changes in nature and how plants and animals prepare for the cold. The forest therapy program was developed jointly with By the Department of Environmental Management and Protection of Moscow.

Water Sports

For the third year in a row, training in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, rafting, and sail-rowing sports has been popular among participants of “Moscow Longevity.” This summer, more than two thousand people took to the water. Under the guidance of instructors, Muscovites learned paddling techniques, vessel control, and safety rules, and then practiced their skills in Strogino, Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo, Serebryany Bor, and at the Kosino Marine Club base.

Festivals, master classes, and concerts

The summer season was also filled with other memorable events. Thousands of city residents took part in the “10,000 Steps” walking festival across eight parks. About eight thousand people celebrated Russia Day at Moscow longevity centers, where culinary and creative workshops, literary club meetings, lectures, and concerts were held.

At the chess tournament of generations, which took place on June 30 at Gogolevsky Boulevard, the “Moscow Longevity” team defeated the opponents from the project “Moscow youth” with a score of 59:21.

Every Thursday on the project’s stages “Summer in Moscow” Talented participants performed creative acts, and some complemented their program with master classes.

The combined choir of “Moscow Longevity” gave concerts throughout the summer. In one of them, held at the Green Theater of VDNH, 200 choristers and the band “Quattro” participated. In addition, there was a performance on the main stage of the forum “Homeland is People. Healthy Family” at the national center “Russia,” where more than 70 participants performed the song “The main thing, guys, is not to grow old at heart.”

In August, the flagship art pavilion of the ‘Made in Moscow’ project at Bolotnaya Square presented a showcase of the masters’ club “Made in ‘Moscow Longevity’.” Here, visitors could purchase handmade jewelry, decorative items, toys, and leather goods created by the project’s participants.
