In Novokosino, according to the project by experts from the Center for Traffic Management (CTM), the traffic scheme on Saltykovskaya Street — one of the key streets of the district, connecting residential areas with social facilities and exits to Kosinskoye and Nosovikhinskoye Highways, as well as to the MKAD — will be changed.
“This year, according to the traffic scheme of the Center for Traffic Management, five new pedestrian crossings will be arranged on Saltykovskaya Street as part of the improvement works; a lane for left turns onto Nikolay Starostin Street will be added, and a roundabout introduced at the intersection with Galina Vishnevskaya Street. These measures will help make routes for residents to schools, clinics, the park, and bus stops more convenient and safer, as well as increase the capacity of the intersections. The work is being carried out under the instructions of Sergey Sobyanin within the framework of the transport development strategy until 2030,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
New pedestrian crossings at the intersection with Mirsky Passage will make it more convenient to reach residential buildings, Novokosinsky Park, and school No. 1591. Two more crossings will be arranged near buildings 11b and 29, block 2 on Saltykovskaya Street — close to clinics, schools, the public services center, and city transport stops.
In addition, a roundabout will be introduced at the intersection of Saltykovskaya Street and Galina Vishnevskaya Street. This will make traffic flow smoother and reduce delays. Another lane will be added for left turns at the intersection with Nikolay Starostin Street. As a result, the capacity of the section will increase, and drivers will be able to reach the residential neighborhoods and Novokosinskaya Street more quickly.
All decisions are based on the analysis of the traffic situation and accident rate, as well as taking into account residents’ requests. The project aims to make everyday routes in the district more convenient and safer for pedestrians, motorists, and public transport passengers.
As part of the improvement of 41 streets according to the projects of the TsODD, a whole set of measures is planned. More than 250 pedestrian crossings will be arranged there, 50 additional lanes will be added before intersections, 20 new U-turns and nine roundabouts will be created. In addition, contrast lighting will be installed at crossings in certain sections, and sidewalks will be widened in narrow places.
