Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia (a department of the State Museum of the Defense of Moscow), subordinate to the capital’s Department of Culture, invites to a themed day dedicated to the sister and brother Kosmodemyansky. It will take place on the birthday of the Hero of the Soviet Union Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya — September 8, from 11:00 to 17:00.
The main events of the program will be the visit to the unique temporary exhibition “Zoya and Alexander” — a joint project with school No. 201 of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor named after Heroes of the Soviet Union Zoya and Alexander Kosmodemyansky and an introduction to the museum’s permanent exhibition. Visitors will see rare family relics, learn about details of the heroes’ pre-war childhood, and follow a route dedicated to the era of the Great Patriotic War.
During the guided lecture-tour of the “Zoya and Alexander” exhibition, visitors will be shown authentic school supplies, Zoya’s dress, notebooks, and satchel, as well as Alexander’s easel, brushes, and painting sketches; he dreamed of becoming an artist. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the original yellowed issue of the newspaper “Pravda” featuring the famous article about Zoya’s heroic deed.
An overview route through the main exhibition of the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia will allow you to learn about the continuity of generations of defenders of the Motherland, see the combat awards and personal belongings of pilots, tankers, and partisans, as well as get acquainted with the history of the awarding of the country’s highest titles.
In addition, a program called “Along the Frontline Roads…” will be held for young visitors. This is an interactive military-historical lesson for schoolchildren primarily aged six to twelve. It is dedicated to the heroism of soldiers during the Great Patriotic War and will take the form of an engaging quest.
