Three women’s health centers have opened in the capital, operating under the new standard for outpatient obstetric and gynecological care. In September, patient admissions began at the women’s health centers of the V.V. Veresayev City Clinical Hospital (37 Planetnaya Street), the F.I. Inozemtsev City Clinical Hospital (91a Izmailovsky Prospect), and the Moscow Multidisciplinary Clinical Center “Kommunarka” (7 Volynskaya Street, building 2). About 500,000 Moscow women will be served at these centers.
“Providing high-quality and accessible medical care to women is one of Moscow’s strategic tasks. A key element has become women’s health centers, which are replacing outdated women’s clinics. These are modern clinics with a wide range of competencies and diagnostic capabilities. They provide women with medical care according to the most modern standards throughout their lives,” wrote Sergey Sobyanin on his channel in

Currently, there are 20 women’s health centers operating within city hospitals, established according to the new standard of outpatient obstetric and gynecological care.
“They are part of the largest multidisciplinary hospitals, which ensures continuity between outpatient and inpatient care. A woman’s health is in the hands of a single team of professional doctors of various specialties (therapists, endocrinologists, obstetricians-gynecologists, and others). For patients, this means seamless routing to the maternity hospital or to a multidisciplinary clinic,” emphasized the Mayor of Moscow.

New standard for outpatient obstetric and gynecological care
Government of Moscow continues the implementation of a new standard for outpatient obstetric and gynecological care. It is based on comprehensive care for women’s health and the comfort of receiving specialized treatment.
The new standard includes a full range of services — from consultations and examinations to support during pregnancy within a unified complex (women’s health center — maternity hospital / perinatal center — gynecological department of a multidisciplinary hospital).
A key element of the new standard is women’s health centers. Each center has a unified equipment standard that allows for the full range of diagnostic procedures to be performed using modern high-tech equipment. Thus, modern approaches to the prevention and treatment of diseases in women are implemented (early detection of oncological diseases, treatment of infertility, cervical pathology, benign breast diseases, and other conditions).
Thoughtful design solutions play an important role in the new centers: bright and spacious waiting areas, clear navigation, and convenient zoning of rooms. All of this is aimed at creating an atmosphere of comfort and a positive mood.
A significant advantage of women’s health centers is also their accessibility: the centers accept patients seven days a week according to a convenient schedule. The travel time to them does not exceed 40 minutes by transport and 60 minutes on foot.
In accordance with the new Moscow standard, women’s health centers provide:
— convenient digital solutions. Data on appointments, examination results, tests, and prescriptions are stored in the electronic medical record. Women’s clinics and women’s health centers are connected to the Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (EMIAS). All basic processes — managing structured protocols, site passports, and registries of pregnant women, as well as routing — are carried out digitally;
— comfortable conditions for patients that ensure the preservation of personal space, creating a positive mindset and a cozy atmosphere.
Medical care in such institutions is received by female residents of the capital of all ages, including during pregnancy, encompassing patients from dispensary groups (with infertility and other health disorders requiring specialized treatment). Pregnancy is managed here in the most comfortable conditions with extensive diagnostic capabilities and the involvement of narrow-profile specialists.
Effective systems for prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy management are established in the centers. As a result, specialists can timely diagnose diseases in children at the intrauterine development stage and promptly provide the full scope of necessary medical care.
An important criterion for the successful implementation of the new standard was the growth of its popularity among women. Over three years, the number of patients registered with the centers increased from 3.7 million to 5.4 million people (by 47 percent).

Women’s Health Center on Planetnaya
The capacity of the new women’s health center on Planetnaya Street (building 37) is 1194 visits per shift, and the number of women registered there is 147 thousand.
“The Women’s Health Center on Planetnaya Street has been located in a renovated building. It united four women’s clinics of the Northern Administrative District. Here, almost all necessary types of diagnostics and treatments are offered both for preparing for childbirth and for maintaining health,” wrote Sergey Sobyanin on his channel in the messenger “Max.”

The institution operates according to the new standard of outpatient obstetric and gynecological care. Thanks to this, women in Moscow can receive almost all necessary types of diagnostics and treatment in one place, both for preparing for childbirth and for maintaining women’s health.
People, technology, infrastructure: what makes Moscow’s healthcare the bestA new women’s health center will open in Khovrino
The center was equipped with the latest equipment, including a mammograph and ultrasound machines. In the four-story building with a basement, the following were placed:
— obstetrician-gynecologists’ offices;
— cardiotocography room;
— functional diagnostics office (electrocardiography and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring);
— ultrasound diagnostic rooms;
— cervical pathology office and mammography office, which will allow detecting neoplasms of the breast and cervix at the earliest possible stage;
— the duty doctor’s office, operating seven days a week to provide assistance in emergency situations without prior appointment;
— school future parents.
The center’s staff consists of 134 employees, including 56 doctors and 42 mid-level medical workers. Among them are specialists who were not found in the old-format women’s clinics: an endocrinologist, a psychologist, and a therapist.
In addition, to provide quality medical care, the new center will utilize the resources of the V.V. Veresaev City Clinical Hospital, including the laboratory and diagnostic services (computerized and magnetic resonance tomography). This will enable the prompt conduct of the full range of necessary examinations.
The day hospital of the women’s health center, designed for five beds (chairs), will reduce the number of visits to hospitals or clinics, including during pregnancy. In particular, pregnant women will not need to visit other medical institutions for glucose tolerance tests or for treatment and prevention of conditions that do not require round-the-clock monitoring (toxicosis, high blood pressure, mild anemia).
For the comfortable stay of visitors, the center has been equipped with a children’s play area, waiting zones with vending machines, a stroller room, as well as specially equipped nursing rooms.
The commissioning of the unit on Planetnaya Street marked the final stage in the formation of a unified obstetric and gynecological cluster at the V.V. Veresaev City Clinical Hospital, which brought together three women’s health centers, a women’s clinic, and a maternity hospital.

Non-invasive prenatal screening
In March 2020, for the first time in Russia, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) was included in the structure of prenatal diagnostics in Moscow — a highly accurate screening method for assessing the risk of fetal chromosomal abnormalities, based on the analysis of cell-free fetal DNA in the blood of a pregnant woman.
The non-invasive testing technology has a number of advantages compared to traditional methods of prenatal diagnosis. The reliability of the result is 99 percent.
In 2025, 11,162 patients in Moscow underwent non-invasive prenatal testing, with a high risk of chromosomal abnormalities detected in 361 of them. Until 2026, NIPT was available only to those permanently residing in the capital. From 2026, this procedure is conducted for all women within the framework of OMS if there are indications.
Expanded neonatal screening
The neonatal screening program has been implemented in Russia since 2006 with the aim of early detection, prevention, and timely treatment of disability and the development of congenital diseases that pose a serious threat to the health and life of children.
Neonatal screening was initially conducted to detect five diseases, including cystic fibrosis (involving exocrine gland disorders with impaired respiratory organ functions) and phenylketonuria (amino acid metabolism disorder) using the immunofluorescence assay method.
In 2019, by decision of the Moscow Government, the neonatal screening program in the capital was expanded to include 11 hereditary diseases. Since 2023, by decision of the Russian Ministry of Health, mass screening of newborns is conducted for 36 hereditary diseases, and from 2026 — for 38.
The research is conducted at the Moscow Neonatal Screening Center of the Morozov City Children’s Clinical Hospital.
The laboratory of the Morozovskaya Children’s City Clinical Hospital, which is part of the Moscow Neonatal Screening Center, has interregional status. Here, expanded neonatal screening for 38 diseases is conducted not only for newborns from Moscow but also for residents of the Moscow and Magadan regions, as well as the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
