A delegation from Peru visited the Polytechnic University. The university’s guests were 17 schoolchildren from the South American country, accompanied by teachers and representatives of the ALAR association — the Latin American-Russian Association.
A rich program was organized for the guests, which included a campus tour and a visit to the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University History Museum. University representatives provided detailed information about the current development of the university, its leading research projects, relevant fields of study, learning conditions, and the admission procedure for foreign citizens. The schoolchildren learned about the specializations and opportunities available to international students.
Following the meeting, the parties discussed further cooperation. Representatives of the ALAR association and the schoolchildren showed interest in the university’s activities and its educational programs. Currently, the possibilities of further admission of Peruvian schoolchildren to SPbPU, as well as their participation in the university’s international summer and winter schools, are being considered.

We view Latin America as a new promising region for developing educational cooperation and are confident that today’s introduction will be the students’ first step toward becoming part of our large international family in the future, noted Olga Emelyanova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility.
The visit to the Polytechnic was truly a bright and informative event for us. We saw the university from the inside: toured the campus, visited the museum, had lunch in the student cafeteria — and experienced firsthand what Russian student life is like. We were told about the educational programs, and university staff accompanied us throughout the day, attentively responding to any of our questions. I am sincerely grateful to the colleagues for the warm welcome and such a rich program, shared the representative of the ALAR association, Kamino Flores Sandra Paola.
The delegation also included IT and media resources specialist Irwin Victor Mejia Tejada from the ALAR association, who highly praised the organization of the event: The visit to the Polytechnic exceeded our expectations, especially thanks to how closely we were able to get acquainted with what university life in Russia is really like. The presentation on academic opportunities allowed us to discover new prospects for future cooperation and clarify many questions.
The meeting ended with an unexpected and vivid surprise: the Peruvian delegation organized an impromptu performance — schoolchildren performed the national Peruvian dance, eliciting genuine admiration from the polytechnic attendees.
Getting to know the university, its rich history, and modern educational opportunities not only sparked genuine interest among the guests from Peru but also laid a solid foundation for further cooperation. The parties confirmed their readiness to implement joint projects, including the participation of Peruvian applicants in the Polytech summer and winter schools and their subsequent enrollment in the university.
