Passenger service has been launched in Moscow on the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line. Five new stations have connected “Delovoy Tsentr” with “Boulevard of General Karbyshev.” Thanks to the launch, more than 550 thousand residents of five districts will be able to reach the city center faster — travel time will be reduced threefold.
The opening ceremony of the new section was attended by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line became 17th line of the Moscow Metro. In the future, it will be extended to Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye, and prospectively — to Krasnogorsk.
The new line has improved transportation services for residents of the districts Presnensky, Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki, Shchukino, Dorogomilovo, and Filevsky Park. Passengers received convenient transfers to the MCC, Solntsevskaya, Filyovskaya, and the Large Circle metro lines.
“Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has opened the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line between the stations ‘Delovoy Tsentr’ and ‘Bulvar Generala Karbysheva.’ About 290,000 workplaces are concentrated nearby. By 2030, due to the construction of business and social facilities, their number will grow to 400,000. The launch of this line has become a powerful impetus for the development of the capital,” reported Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport and Industry.
After the opening of the first section, more is expected 90 thousand trips per day. By 2030, the passenger traffic of the entire Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line is expected to nearly triple and exceed 250 thousand passengers per day.
The launch of the new line will also allow the redistribution of transport flows and reduce the load on Zvenigorodskoye Highway and Marshal Zhukov Avenue. The development of the adjacent territories will create conditions for increasing the number of jobs by approximately 35%.
The passengers on the line are served by modern Russian trains “Moscow-2026”. The train sets are equipped with updated seats, through corridors, wide doors, and numerous charging ports for gadgets.
In 2027, the next section is planned to open—from “General Karbyshev Boulevard” to “Novorizhskaya.” In 2030, the line is planned to be extended from “Novorizhskaya” to “Emerald Hills.”
The Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line will be serviced by the Solntsevo electric depot. In the future, a new electric depot, Novorizhskoye, expected to be completed in 2027, will be added to it.
