Guangzhou, September 6 /Xinhua/ — The naval forces of China and Singapore began joint exercises on Saturday in Guangdong Province (South China), marking the fifth naval exercises between the two countries.
The opening ceremony took place at a naval port in the city of Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. The exercises are being held in the waters and airspace near the city of Zhanjiang and include live-fire drills, replenishment at sea, and joint search and rescue operations.
Two combat ships are participating in the exercises: the missile frigate “Dali” from the Chinese side and the frigate “RSS Steadfast” from the Singaporean side.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Defense of the PRC made earlier this week, the exercises are aimed at deepening mutual trust, strengthening practical cooperation, and enhancing the ability to jointly maintain peace and stability in the region. -0-
