The Eastern Economic Forum – 2026 is being held in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4. Representatives of federal and regional authorities, Russian and foreign businesses, and leading experts in the fields of economics and management have gathered at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme of EEF-2026 is “The Far East – development for the benefit of the people.” The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of Russia.

Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum Yuri Trutnev summed up the preliminary results of the EEF after three days.

“More than 7,000 people from 78 countries around the world participated in the forum over three days. In terms of the number of people, this is approximately the same figure as last year. The largest delegations were from China, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, India, and Myanmar. There were 2.4 thousand representatives from Russian and foreign businesses from more than a thousand companies, 15 heads of diplomatic corps, 9 ministers of the Russian Federation, 10 heads of federal services and agencies, and 13 heads of subjects of the Russian Federation. The forum program included over 150 business events with the participation of more than a thousand speakers. There were 1.2 thousand business negotiations on projects for the development of the Far Eastern Federal District. Business dialogues took place with entrepreneurs from China, India, Mongolia, and ASEAN countries. Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum, the fourth international “Falcon Day” forum, the Creative Industries Forum, and the SME Forum were held. Traditionally, we organize the “Far East Street” exhibition, as well as sports and cultural events,” said Yuri Trutnev.

At the Roscongress Foundation platform “Territory of Innovations,” technological projects aimed at the advanced development of the Far East were presented. They are designed to address the key challenges of the macroregion: complex logistics, unique climatic conditions, energy deficit, the need for digitalization, and accelerated construction.

Yuri Trutnev spoke about the economic results of the EEF-2026. Over three days of the forum, 285 agreements were signed totaling 6.66 trillion rubles. Among the largest and most significant public agreements are the creation of the international transport corridor Mohe – Naiba in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the formation of an investment mechanism for implementing a comprehensive Arctic development project and the Trans-Arctic transport corridor, and others. “These are large volumes of work. This is a large amount of financing. These projects will impact the entire development of the Far East,” emphasized Yuri Trutnev.

The main topic of the report to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of VEF-2026 was the formation of an integrated system for the development of the Far East.

“A Strategy for the Development of the Far East until 2036 has been developed and approved by the Government for the forum, and is now awaiting the signature of Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin. This strategy is the result of a year of work by the entire Government, the Federal Assembly, the expert community, and all the regions of the Far East. It was developed on the instructions of the President, given at the Eastern Economic Forum. The Security Council of the Russian Federation has reviewed and approved the Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone until 2050. At the Forum, much discussion took place regarding the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor. It can be said that the Far East and the Arctic have been merged into a single geostrategic macro-region of Russia, covering more than half of the country’s territory,” noted the Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov.

At the Eastern Economic Forum 2026, measures of state support for the accelerated development of the economy and social sphere – improvements in people’s quality of life – were traditionally discussed. Technologies became a cross-cutting theme of the forum. The forum’s structure, many sessions, and business events were dedicated to the topic of attracting and developing technologies.

The forum discussed demographic policy, including support for large families.

Overall, the President supported the proposals prepared by the Government regarding the parameters of the unified preferential regime throughout the Far East and the Arctic territories. At the meeting chaired by the President, issues were raised concerning the provision of electricity to the Far East, the development of air transportation, and the construction of border crossings.

Under the President’s leadership, nine new enterprises were launched, representing the mining industry, gas chemistry, logistics, high technology, and energy sectors.

The Eastern Economic Forum takes place from September 1 to 4 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme this year is “The Far East – development for the benefit of the people.” The organizer of the EEF is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of Russia.
