How to choose your own path, implement projects, and maximize your talents was discussed at a meeting with GSU freshmen.
Acting rector of GUU Dmitry Bryukhanov addressed the students with a welcoming speech. He noted that the university is not only lectures and seminars, but also an environment where a student idea can grow into a real project and own business.
Anastasia Lobacheva, Director of the Project Office of the Department of Acceleration Programs and Project Learning at the State University of Management, talked about how project-based learning is arranged at the university, what the work of a project team consists of, and what steps first-year students will need to take in the coming weeks.
The conversation was continued by Veronika Balandina, head of the “Service Learning” program at GUU and acting director of the Business Accelerator: she demonstrated how an educational project can solve real social issues. Ekaterina Illarionova, director of the Project Mentorship Center at GUU, spoke about where students can find support and how to avoid losing their way midway through their work.
The director of the GUU business incubator, Dmitry Rogov, introduced the audience to the support measures available for those ready to start their own startup, while Viktor Puchenkov, a 4th-year student and head of the “Garnet” case club, presented the case school and the format of working with real business challenges.
Graduate student of the State University of Management and winner of the 2025 “Startup as a Diploma” competition Danila Yakovlev shared his personal experience of successfully developing his own business with first-year students. His story became a vivid example of how a student project turns into a real functioning business.
In addition, students were informed about international programs, internships, first steps in their careers, and programs of the Educational Center ‘GUU Auto’.
