Beijing, September 3 /Xinhua/ — On September 5, the Asia-Pacific Media Forum will open in the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province /South China/, as part of a series of events within the “Year of China” at APEC 2026.
The forum, dedicated to the main theme “Charting the Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action,” is expected to present numerous results and achievements.
On the eve of the event, guest participants visit a number of cities in Guangdong province, including Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan.
As part of the “Year of China” at APEC in 2026, about 300 events are planned to be held in many cities across China. In particular, the 33rd informal meeting of APEC economic leaders will take place in Shenzhen in November. China will host this event for the third time, after Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014.
Located next to Xianggang, Shenzhen was one of the first special economic zones of China and over four decades has turned into a global center of innovation and advanced manufacturing.
In the first half of 2026, Shenzhen’s trade turnover with other APEC economies grew by 33 percent and amounted to 1.98 trillion yuan (about 292 billion US dollars), or 68.8 percent of the city’s total foreign trade volume for the reporting period. Experts believe that Shenzhen demonstrates how China’s new growth drivers are creating new opportunities throughout the Asia-Pacific region. -0-
