In special economic zone A project to automate internal logistics has begun at the (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow.” A high-tech robot capable of transporting up to 600 kilograms of payload has started operating in the SEZ territory. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
“By the instruction of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to implement solutions that allow us to automate and accelerate the execution of production and business processes. The enterprises of the SEZ are already producing robotic technological complexes, hardware-software complexes, RFID tags for accounting and inventory. A new project for automating cargo delivery has optimized production chains, minimized manual labor, and increased the safety of moving finished metal products,” said Maksim Liksutov.
The project was implemented by the Shared Use Center (SUC) together with the Practical Training Center for Mechanical Engineering (PTCME), where students from the capital’s colleges undergo practical training. At the SUC’s request, the students manufacture shafts, bushings, flanges, and housings for enterprises from various materials — black and stainless steel, as well as aluminum alloys. Now a robot transports the products and blanks between the SUC and PTCME sites. In total, products worth 5.6 million rubles have been produced there.
The robot’s route spans two floors of the production building and exceeds 500 meters. A 360-degree scanning system enables it to navigate the space, strictly follow the specified movement pattern, and avoid obstacles. The robot is equipped with a frontal lidar, single-point sensors, and two 3D binocular cameras. This ensures pedestrian safety as well as cargo security. When fully charged, the machine can operate for up to eight hours.
The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over this time, the project has grown from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub of domestic industry and a center of attraction for companies defining Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, more than 240 high-tech enterprises are localized across 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, covering a total area of 430 hectares, representing strategic fields such as microelectronics, instrumentation, biomedicine, IT, and robotics. The development and support of the special economic zone in the capital is carried out by Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow.
