Capital city analysts Department of Information Technology studied how the residents of the capital use and evaluate modern digital developments. Among them are smart home devices, services based on artificial intelligence, chatbots, and other technologies. Based on the results research Muscovites were divided into four groups.
“Research helps us answer questions: who will be the first to try services at the testing stage, who needs detailed instructions and additional training, what barriers users face and how to reduce them. Understanding the user profile and differences between groups allows the city to develop digital services so that they are in demand and convenient for different categories of residents,” said Mariam Arevadze, head of the analytical department of the Moscow City Department of Information Technology.
The largest group became digital majority — 33 percent of respondents were classified as such. These users generally have a positive attitude toward innovations and are not willing to give up digital devices even temporarily, but at the same time may lack confidence in their skills to work with certain technologies. Digital enthusiasts They accounted for 23 percent of those surveyed. They confidently use technology, feel comfortable in the smart city, keep up with new innovations, and try to be the first to test them.
Another 23 percent accounted for digital pessimists — the most pragmatic group. Such Muscovites are well-versed in technology, but when using new products, they primarily focus on the need to solve a task first, and only then on authoritative reviews, proven benefits, and effectiveness. K digital conservatives 21 percent of respondents were classified in this group. Representatives of this group deliberately avoid excessive digitalization, choosing simple and familiar scenarios.
Overall, 83 percent of Muscovites positively assess the impact of technology on life. Residents find smart home devices, artificial intelligence, chatbots, biometrics, and new communication technologies the most understandable and useful.
Everyday digital engagement remains high: almost 98 percent of city residents go online daily, seven out of ten spend more than six hours online each day. Over 70 percent of Muscovites feel confident and comfortable surrounded by technology at home, on the street, and at work.
