The results of the third season of the “Art in the Metro” project were summed up at the Southern River Station. The artists were congratulated by curators from the capital Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development, as well as colleagues from the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association, subordinate to the Moscow Department of Culture, the general partner and operator of the project.
“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the Moscow Metro as a cultural venue. An important part of this work is the ‘Art in the Metro’ project, which grows bigger with each season. Over three years, it has already united more than 350 artists and 13 venues, and in 2026, young talents joined it as well. Throughout the entire existence of the project, artists have painted 3,800 paintings,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
The main event of the evening was the awarding of the season’s winners. The title of “Project Activist” was given to Anna Dobrovan for her particularly outstanding work. The “Stars of the Exhibitions” were Olga Petrova (31 paintings, five exhibitions), Irina Ostapenko (30 paintings, four exhibitions), Yulia Ershova (29 paintings, 10 exhibitions), Ekaterina Gavrilova (28 paintings, six exhibitions), and Elena Melnikova (28 paintings, five exhibitions). This nomination was established by the union “Exhibition Halls of Moscow,” which also prepared commemorative gifts for the laureates.
“The third season has become the most eventful in the entire history of ‘Art in the Metro.’ During this time, nine exhibitions were held, featuring 78 artists who presented 547 works,” noted the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the Moscow Department of Culture.
In the category “Soul of the Project,” the best was Nina Silaeva, who was recognized for creating a friendly atmosphere in the community. The title “Artist of the Season” was awarded to Olga Korotkova for her active participation in the project’s life. The winners received gift sets with branded bags, t-shirts, aprons, and pencil cases. Additionally, all evening participants were given themed “Troika” cards as a souvenir of the project’s third season. During the ceremony, an in-person selection for the fourth season of the project was held. As a result, 33 new artists were accepted, who will join the creative community of “Arts in the Metro” next year.
