On the first day of autumn, the children’s drawing contest “Discover#Space” begins in the capital. The best works will be selected through an open vote. They will be applied to a satellite, which will be sent into space. This was reported by Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
“Moscow is one of the leading centers of the domestic aerospace industry. The city’s enterprises create satellites, communication systems, electronic components, and other high-tech solutions that operate in orbit and help people on Earth. The “Open#Space” contest will give children the opportunity to imagine breakthrough developments and see that their ideas can become part of a real space project. We are confident that such initiatives help foster students’ interest in technology and engineering topics, as well as draw attention to technical professions,” noted Anatoly Garbuzov.
Children aged six to 14 are invited to participate. The theme of the drawings is the image of modern Moscow industry. Young artists can depict factories, robots, space technologies, innovative devices, or any other subjects related to advanced developments. A short text—a motto, slogan, or message—must be added to the drawing. Additionally, a description of the concept can be provided.
The organizers of the competition are the project “Open#Mosprom” and the Moscow space company.
Works can be submitted through the “Open#Mosprom” portal from September 1 to 30. The results of the voting, based on which the drawings to be placed on the satellite will be selected, will be announced by October 15. Winners will not only see their creations in space but will also receive commemorative gifts and have the opportunity to visit the production site of the capital’s space company and learn about the process of creating unique developments.
The “Discover#MosProm” project has been implemented by the Government of Moscow since 2019. It is designed to talk about the city’s industry, awaken interest in the industrial sector, and help young people discover career opportunities at urban enterprises. The project includes tours, including online ones, lectures, master classes, intellectual games, exhibitions, and sports events.
