Yuri Trutnev: Photo Exhibitions Dedicated to the “Far East – Land of Adventures” Competition Opened in Vladivostok

In the lead-up to the XI Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, exhibitions of photographic works by participants of the All-Russian competition for the best journey in the Far East and the Arctic “Far East – the land of adventures” were opened. The initiator of the competition is Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District.

“For several years in a row, we have been opening on the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum an exhibition of photographs by participants of the ‘Far East – Land of Adventures’ contest. We want as many people as possible, including forum participants, residents, and guests of Vladivostok, not only to look at the photographs but also to become those who pave new tourist routes themselves. And we are ready to support them in such a choice. The contest was created precisely for this purpose. The films sent to the contest are evaluated by a competent jury, and the authors of the best journeys receive gifts and recognition,” said the initiator of the contest, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.

The exhibitions opened at Vladivostok airport, at Revolution Fighters Square, and at the Far East Street venue. Each location features photos of participants from the first three seasons of the contest, taken during the filming of video materials for short travel films. The photo exhibition will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the amazing nature of the Far East: to sail across seas and rivers, climb mountains and volcanoes, walk untrodden paths of the tundra and taiga, and even travel by dog sled.

This year, the organizers introduced elements of interactivity to the exhibition, creating the effect of “living” photographs. Thanks to augmented reality technology, you can watch teasers of the participants’ films. To do this, you need to scan a special QR code once, and then, by pointing the camera at a photo, enjoy short clips from the participants’ films. This same technology will allow you to access the full versions of the films or open the contest website.

Among the photographs are works taken in Kamchatka: by Anna Semashkina – about the dog sled race “Beringia” and by Ernest Leonidov from a journey to the Valley of the Giants – a picturesque volcanic plateau in the Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes area, by Elena Poddubnaya – about a winter bike trip along the winter road Anavgay – Tigil. Two more photo works tell about hikes in the Sakhalin region: Ilya Bolshakov on the Krenitsyn volcano on Onekotan Island and Evgeny Klipp about the rich underwater world near Moneron Island. Shots by Marina Galkina, Ii Milovidova, Anton Kovylin, and Nikita Bereznyakov will show breathtaking landscapes from travels around the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. A photo by Buda Tsydypov tells about the snowy expanses of the Republic of Buryatia, and a photograph by Viktor Kitsan depicts the marine beauty of Primorsky Krai. You can admire the mountain ranges of the Magadan region in a photo by Denis Molchanov, enjoy the steady flow of a river in a frame by Sergey and Elena Marchenko from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and immerse yourself in the soft colors of the taiga in a photo by Elina Bakunova from the Trans-Baikal Territory.Also at the photo exhibition, you can see a shot from the award ceremony: the Grand Prix being presented to the first winner of the competition, Anton Konobievsky, for his video work about kayaking trips in Primorsky Krai.

The fourth season of the “Far East – Land of Adventures” competition is currently underway. The jury received 219 short films from participants across various regions of the country.

To participate in the “Far East – Land of Adventures” contest, you need to shoot a short film up to 8 minutes long about your journey through the Far East or in the Arctic and submit it via the website путешественникдв.рф by January 15, 2027.

The competition is held with the support of the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, JSC “Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic,” and the NGO “Social Initiatives Development Fund.”

The Eastern Economic Forum will be held from September 1 to 4 in Vladivostok at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme of the EEF is “The Far East – Development for the Benefit of People.” The organizer is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.
