Today, veterinary medicine is actively developing in the capital, specialists are gaining new opportunities for diagnosing diseases, treatment, and prevention. Modern technologies help to detect pathologies earlier, select necessary medications, and monitor the condition of animals.

Such solutions are created by technology companies, including those operating at urban technopark sites such as “Slava” and “Mosmedpark.” Their operator is the joint-stock company “Moscow Technological Infrastructure Directorate,” an organization subordinate to the capital Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

“Today, pets have become full-fledged family members, and agriculture requires increasingly precise solutions. The veterinary industry is reaching a new level, and Moscow’s technoparks are one of its key growth points. Thanks to city support, residents can focus on science and production without being distracted by infrastructure issues. This means that veterinarians across the country receive new effective tools, and animal owners gain confidence that quality care is available for their pets,” noted Viktor Shkredov, General Director of the joint-stock company ‘Moscow Technological Infrastructure Directorate.’

The Astrafarm Group of Companies, a resident of the Slava Technopark, has been developing and manufacturing veterinary drugs since 1992. Its main areas of work are contraception, behavior correction, and combating viruses. Its products have no global equivalents. For example, last year it launched the drug “Trazapentin”. Two substances in its composition—trazodone succinate and gabapentin—are also used to treat neuropathic pain. Their combination allows for simultaneous action on pain and anxiety in chronic diseases: osteoarthritis, cancer, renal failure, idiopathic cystitis, and other pathologies. The drug underwent clinical trials, and its formula is patented.

In August 2026, another new product from the company was released — “Gabapentin-ASTRA.” The drug has analgesic, anticonvulsant, and sedative effects, expanding the capabilities of veterinarians in treating animals.

In addition, this company runs an educational program for pet owners and groomers: it teaches the basics of first aid, the culture of care and animal maintenance, and ways to reduce stress in pets. According to the company, its informational materials reach over 30 million people.

Among the residents of the Slava technopark is the BioInvest Scientific and Technological Center, part of the AstraPharm group of companies, specializing in the production of pharmaceutical substances based on recombinant proteins. These include growth hormone, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interferons for humans and animals. In 2022, it released the first dog species-specific interferon drug in Russia.

One of the key products of the center is “Dogferon”: it stimulates immunity and helps fight viruses at the cellular level. According to the company, this is one of the first recombinant canine interferon-alpha in Russia, completely identical to the natural protein. It does not cause the formation of neutralizing antibodies, which is typical for most animal interferons made based on human protein. Clinical trials of the drug were conducted on puppies suffering from parvoviral enteritis, and by the fifth day of treatment, the animals felt better than puppies in the control group. The clinical recovery time was reduced from 12 to six days. The drug belongs to the fourth hazard class (low-hazard substances). It showed no toxicological effects.

Another resident of the Slava technopark is the veterinary laboratory “EniTest,” which conducts diagnostic research for agriculture. Its clients include farmers, major holdings, pharmaceutical companies, feed producers, and scientific institutions. Specialists perform over 250,000 studies annually. The laboratory is accredited according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 and equipped with modern equipment. Staff use domestic and foreign test systems, allowing for a wide range of diagnostic studies using PCR, ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), microbiology, and analytical chemistry methods.

Since 2024, the company has been monitoring the health of laboratory animals for scientific institutions and vivariums — specialists have developed existing methods and supplemented them with their own achievements. Previously, similar research was conducted on a limited scale by a small Novosibirsk laboratory, which has already ceased operations. The company’s chemical research department has developed and implemented its own comprehensive method for analyzing the content of active substances, the list of which is constantly expanding, in therapeutic animal feed.

At the Mosmedpark technopark site, the company Spectral-Dynamic Systems created the Korovski early diagnosis system for dairy farming in 2025. It allows the detection of subclinical mastitis in cows at an early stage, when there may still be no external signs of the disease. Mastitis reduces milk yield, worsens milk quality, and increases economic losses for farms. Traditional diagnostic methods often detect the disease only at later stages. Over eight years of development, the system evolved from the first prototype to full-scale production operation. More than 18 thousand studies have already been conducted, including 1,131 comparative laboratory tests. The verification took place at the training and experimental farm of Kuban State Agrarian University.

According to the company, in farms using the system, the incidence of clinical mastitis decreased by 53 percent compared to the control group. It was brought down to an extremely low level and consistently maintained throughout the entire period of system operation. The economic effect amounts to 17.9 thousand rubles per cow per year due to preserved productivity, reduced treatment costs, and decreased milk losses.

The system is currently being implemented in livestock farms in Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. In the future, they plan to launch new diagnostic modules for detecting endometritis, pneumonia, and ketosis in cattle. Expansion into the markets of Brazil, South Africa, Kazakhstan, and Argentina is also possible.

All the company’s developments are patented in Russia. The project received support from Moscow in the form of reimbursement of invention patenting expenses.
