The Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya metro line will be extended to the Kurkino district. Sergey Sobyanin announced this at a meeting with teachers and students of the new school No. 2005, built in this district.
“We understand that this is such an area. It’s not only Kurkino — 35 thousand residents, but here, in this enclave, about 300 thousand people live — including Khimki and Krasnogorsk. A huge number of people head to Moscow every day and back. This is a crowded MKAD, these are congested outbound highways. Of course, it is very important that the entire district is also integrated properly,” said Sergey Sobyanin.
The decision to integrate the district into the capital’s metro network was made due to the congestion of Novokurkino Highway.
“Two stations — ‘Novokurkino Highway,’ let’s see what else to call it. Maybe we will even name it Khimki Station, because that’s where the urban district of the Moscow region begins. And the second one — not far from this school — we will look at the location, consult with you, and make a planning project next year. You will quickly get to the center of Moscow and back, so Kurkino, in addition to having the status of a wonderful, quiet green area, will also gain good transport accessibility,” added the Mayor of Moscow.
Anastasia Tkacheva, a 10th-grade student at School No. 2005, thanked Sergey Sobyanin for the decision to build near the metro station.
“Exactly for us, because we are about to graduate now, these are new opportunities. Of course, it’s difficult, but it’s cool that we manage to integrate all this, to create. Huge thanks, because this is really what we all need here,” noted Anastasia Tkacheva.
The construction of the metro in Kurkino became possible after the launch of the Large Circle Line (LCL) and the third Moscow Central Diameters (MCD-3). Additionally, a new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line will start operating in 2026–2027. As a result, the northwestern section of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line will become noticeably less crowded, allowing it to be extended further beyond the MKAD.
The terminal station “Planernaya” on the purple metro line was opened on December 30, 1975. Today, 51 years later, it will become the starting point for a new project to develop the Moscow metro.

Currently, the journey from the Kurkino district by ground public transport to the nearest metro stations — “Planernaya” (10 routes) and “Khovrino” (three routes) — takes about 30 minutes.
Thanks to the construction of the metro, a significant portion of the residents of the Kurkino district, Putilkovo (Krasnogorsk), and Khimki (about 150 thousand people) will no longer need to travel to stations by surface transport: they will have a metro station within walking distance. Instead of a 30-minute bus ride to “Planernaya” or “Khovrino,” the walk to the metro will take about five minutes — six times less.
“Thanks to the stations, the trip to the center of Moscow will become almost twice as fast. For example, the journey to Belorussky railway station will take 30 minutes instead of an hour, to the ‘Khoroshyovskaya’ station of the Big Circle Line (BCL) — 25 minutes instead of 50. Passengers will be able to make quick and convenient transfers at 22 metro, MCC, and MCD stations. The ‘Planernaya’ station, which is currently the terminal on the purple line, will be 20 percent less congested,” noted Sergey Sobyanin on his channel.

In addition, it will become more convenient to reach more than 70 social, educational, and recreational facilities in the district.
It is expected that about 70 thousand passengers will use the metro stations in Kurkino daily. According to estimates, the passenger flow at the “Novokurkino Highway” station will be 26 thousand passengers per day, while the “Kurkino” station will have 43 thousand.
At the same time, due to a more even distribution of passenger flows, the load on the entrance turnstiles of the Planernaya metro station, which is currently a terminus, will decrease by 20 percent — from 50 to 39 thousand passengers per day. Traffic intensity on the adjacent sections of the MKAD, Leningradskoye, and Novokurkino highways will decrease by five thousand vehicles per day.
The Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line, over 42 kilometers long with 23 stations, is one of the longest and most popular radial lines of the Moscow Metro. It connects 15 districts with a total population of two million people. Passengers have access to transfers at 22 rail-frame stations. More than one million people use the line daily.
Four new stations have appeared on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line over the past 15 years. In 2013–2015, the southeastern section of the line was extended by three stations — Lermontovsky Prospekt, Zhulebino, and Kotelniki. In 2014, the Spartak station was opened on the northwestern section.

New school on Sokolovo-Meshcherskaya Street
The new academic building of School No. 2005 was constructed within the framework of the Targeted Investment Program at the address: 2a Sokolovo-Meshcherskaya Street.
“The school is good, it has medical classes, engineering classes, IT and even entrepreneurial classes, so this school is exactly for grades 10-11, for senior students. The Mayor of Moscow added that this year, on September 1, 20 new schools and 100 renovated ones are opening in the capital. “A record number of school places — new or renovated — will appear in Moscow,” emphasized Sergey Sobyanin.
In the new four-story educational building with an area of about 6,100 square meters, constructed according to a custom design, a comfortable and safe space for learning and creativity has been created. A barrier-free environment has been organized here for children with disabilities.

The architectural concept of the building is based on an unconventional geometric solution for the facades, where the main focus is on the entrance groups. Large-format porcelain stoneware plates in white, light cream, and mustard shades were used for cladding. To ensure good lighting, a curtain wall transparent aluminum frame-and-beam structure is provided. This technology allows glazing of large openings while maintaining the structural integrity.
Students and teachers have access to modern educational and public spaces. Among them are an IT polygon, a media library, an academic laboratory and research complex, versatile and specialized classrooms, technical and medical blocks, a dining hall with a kitchen area, a transformable sports hall with a sliding curtain that allows simultaneous classes for several groups, a choreography hall, as well as comfortable changing rooms and showers.

The school was equipped with special modules and construction kits for programming for robotics classes. Laboratory equipment for conducting experiments, digital sensors for research work, and microscopes were installed in the science classrooms. Teaching rooms were equipped with interactive panels, and computer rooms with laptops.
In the educational spaces, movable partitions were installed. This allows the rooms to be adapted for various formats of classes and events. High-quality materials were used for the finishing of the premises, complying with Moscow school standards, fire safety, and hygiene requirements. Their selection took into account, in particular, the anti-slip properties of floor tiles and the durability of coverings.
The building is equipped with modern engineering systems that will ensure comfort and safety for students and teachers. Energy-saving LED lights have been installed in classrooms, corridors, and public spaces.
One of the features of the new school is a multifunctional multi-light space that will be used for holding events. It is equipped with a projector, modern lighting, and sound equipment. Acoustic panels, which help reduce noise levels, were used to finish the walls here.
A sports core was arranged on the school grounds — a universal area for basketball, volleyball, and mini-football, a gymnastics area, and a quiet rest zone. As part of the comprehensive improvement, greenery was planted, small architectural forms were installed, and convenient pedestrian paths were laid.

The building’s high-tech infrastructure will enable high school students to learn 3D modeling, programming, and additive technologies. Based at the IT polygon, they will be able to study robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and in the engineering laboratory-research complex, they will test modern 3D printers and scanners. The capabilities of the academic laboratory and science classrooms will allow for comprehensive environmental monitoring and interdisciplinary research.
Plans include expanding the system of supplementary education, including for students from other schools in the Kurkino district. In the 2026/2027 academic year, new clubs will open for students in grades 8-11: for preparation to participate in competitions, marathons, contests, and technical Olympiads (3D modeling, robotics, artificial intelligence, prototyping, UAVs), and for preparation to enter classes of city projects focused on natural sciences, technology, and humanities.
Moreover, in the 2026/2027 academic year, the new building of school No. 2005 will become a venue for basketball tournaments within the framework of the “Victory Ball” sports league.

School No. 2005 comprises seven buildings, including a new building on Sokolovo-Meshcherskaya Street — three for school use and four for preschool. The institution educates 3,563 children, including 2,928 school students and 635 preschoolers. The workforce numbers 243 employees, among whom are 106 teachers, 35 caregivers, and 40 other educational staff members.
Starting from the fifth grade, an individual educational trajectory is developed for each student. In-depth study of certain subjects is provided: mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, English, history, and others.
Starting from the seventh grade, city projects such as “Mathematical Vertical,” “Natural Science Vertical,” “IT Vertical,” “Physics and Mathematics Vertical” are implemented, as well as education according to individual study plans, within which children study certain subjects in depth: mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, English, history, and Russian. In addition, the city project “Cadet Class in a Moscow School” is successfully being implemented.
In grades 10-11, education is organized according to five profiles: technological, socio-economic, humanitarian, natural science, and universal. This work is carried out within the framework of pre-professional education projects “Medical Class in a Moscow School,” “Engineering Class in a Moscow School,” “IT Class in a Moscow School,” “Entrepreneurial Class in a Moscow School,” and “Media Class in a Moscow School.”
In order to prepare students for an informed choice of profession, the school actively cooperates with Moscow universities. In the past academic year, 191 eleventh graders graduated from the school. Of these, 58 students were awarded the federal medal “For Special Achievements in Learning” and 31 students received the Moscow medal “For Special Achievements in Learning.” According to the results of the Unified State Exam (EGE), 74 graduates, or 39 percent, scored more than 220 points in three subjects, including 34 students scoring more than 250 points. Two graduates scored 100 points in one of the EGE subjects (computer science and chemistry).
Also, in the 2025/2026 academic year, 109 people received diplomas as winners and prize-winners of the municipal stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad. Sixteen students became winners and prize-winners of the regional stage, and four people of the final stage of the competitions. Nine students were recognized as winners and prize-winners of the Moscow School Olympiad.
In addition, the guys take prize-winning places at the professional skills championships “Masteryata” and “Moscow Professionals.” A project for early professional orientation of students in grades 6-11 called “Ticket to the Future” is also being implemented.
Schoolchildren can reveal their creative talents in the “ProTeatr” theater, whose troupe includes not only students but also parents and teachers. This year, the theater became a laureate of the Commonwealth of School Theaters competition.
The school sports club “Molniya-2005” is also developing successfully. Its members take prize-winning places in inter-district swimming competitions and other sports. The school’s students actively participate in meeting GTO standards — in the 2025/2026 academic year, they received 243 gold, 467 silver, and 197 bronze badges.
The school also has a tourist club called “Prosveyt.” Special attention is given to patriotic education. The institution has established a military-patriotic club called “Patriot” and a branch of the “First Movement.” Primary school students are involved in the “Eaglets of Russia” program.
