In Moscow, the implementation of a set of measures to eliminate traffic congestion continues. The situation is managed by 32 road patrol crews: in the first half of 2026, they assisted motorists more than 20,000 times. During the same period, over 1,100 traffic organization scheme change projects were developed and approved, 46 additional lanes were introduced through re-marking, and the speed limit was changed on 63 sections.
Moscow maintains its leadership in Russia in road safety. The social risk indicator in the capital has reached a historic low in the last 26 years — 0.83 fatalities in road traffic accidents per 100,000 population. This is 4.3 times lower than the national average level, which is 3.58.
Today, 555 local events are being implemented in the capital to improve traffic safety: new pedestrian crossings are appearing, artificial road bumps are being installed on the roads, traffic lights and photo-video recording complexes are being set up.
Work is also being carried out with the audience under 18 and over 60 years old: in the first half of 2026, more than 120 thousand people participated in events aimed at improving transport culture in the Moscow longevity centers, and more than 8.2 thousand children — in schools.
