The Agency of Creative Industries (ACI) under the capital Department of Culture presented the program as part of the Moscow International Book Fair, which will take place from September 2 to 6 at Gostiny Dvor. Among the events are business meetings and a networking session “Practical aspects of working with the publishing market of China.”
Illustrators’ Exhibition and Book Film Club
At the stand of the Moscow Agency for Creative Industries, 10 capital city book illustrators will showcase their works. Visitors will be able to see more than 50 pieces by artists who create images for fiction and non-fiction books. The exhibition will demonstrate the potential of the Moscow school of print illustration and the diversity of creative approaches of the masters.
On September 2, a round table titled “The Path of the Contemporary Text to the Stage: Partnership of the Publisher, Director, and Theater” will be held, with the participation of the director of the “Dmitry Brusnikin Workshop” and Moscow publishers, as well as representatives of libraries. They will discuss how contemporary texts reach the theater and what determines the directors’ choices.
On September 5, the book film club will be in session. Using Baz Luhrmann’s film “The Great Gatsby” as an example, participants will discuss how cinema makes a book more vivid and dimensional.
Networking session and business meetings
During the days of the Moscow International Book Fair, as part of the “Publishing Seasons” program, the Creative Industries Agency is organizing a business program.
On September 3, a networking session “Practical Aspects of Working with the Chinese Market” will take place at the creative space “AKI. Lab”, aimed at fostering interaction between publishers and illustrators with the book market of this country. On September 4, more than 200 closed business meetings will be held between 40 Moscow and Chinese publishing houses. The format of business contacts will allow participants to discuss joint projects in the field of publishing, agree on the acquisition and sale of rights to publications, as well as establish long-term partnerships. The program is aimed at promoting products of capital city publishers in one of the largest book markets in the world and acquiring rights to Chinese works.
