58 NSU Students Became Winners of the Scholarship Competitions of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has summarized the results of the competitions for the appointment of scholarships of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation. The competitive selection was held from April 30 to June 15, 2026. As a result of the selection, 58 students of Novosibirsk State University were awarded named scholarships: 24 students will receive President of the Russian Federation scholarships (30,000 rubles per month), 34 students will receive Government of the Russian Federation scholarships (20,000 rubles per month). The awards are granted from September 1, 2026, for a period of 12 months.

The competitive selection is traditionally conducted based on students’ achievements in research, academic, and community activities. Meanwhile, as the winners themselves note, not only the number of publications and awards matters, but also their quality, as well as the proper preparation of the application.

Alexey Zazulya, a second-year master’s student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of NSU, became a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship. He included two articles in international journals in his application, dedicated to the study of platinum metal compounds in the aspects of photodynamic therapy and photophysics. According to him, the key factor was not so much the number of publications, but the level of the journals in which they were published.

— The scholarship for me is more of an alternative to the increased state academic scholarship, which I failed to obtain this semester. Of course, it allows me to implement some ideas related to daily life, rest, and the development of my scientific work. My advice to other students is to apply for the scholarship, even if it seems that their achievements will be insufficient, as was the case with me, — said Aleksey Zazulya.

Denis Gribanov, a student of the Faculty of Physics at NSU, was also awarded the Presidential Scholarship. He submitted several articles to journals listed in the HAC list, presentations at conferences, as well as victories in the ‘I am a Professional’ Olympiad in two disciplines.

— I am very pleased that the results of my work have been highly appreciated. This scholarship is a welcome bonus to my scientific activity, a sign that my field of research is important and relevant, — shared Denis Gribanov.

A second-year master’s student at the Humanities Institute of NSU Alina Iskhakova, a recipient of the Russian Government scholarship, said that the application process was not difficult for her thanks to the help of university staff and her habit of storing all scans of certificates and diplomas in electronic folders. Her portfolio included awards for creative and scientific activities, as well as high academic performance.

— This is a great experience that proves all the effort pays off. My main advice to students is not to be afraid to apply for scholarships and competitions. And be sure to organize your certificates — it saves a lot of time, — noted Alina Iskhakova.
