Beijing, August 25 /Xinhua/ — The 18th session of the Bureau of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference /CPPCC/ of the 14th National Committee opened on Tuesday in the Chinese capital, with attendees discussing issues related to ensuring and improving the welfare of the population.
At the opening of the session, Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Politburo and Chairman of the NPCSC, was present.
The meeting was also attended by and featured a report from He Lifeng, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of China.
He Lifeng called for concrete actions to ensure the implementation of priority tasks in the field of people’s well-being, including promoting high-quality and full employment, improving the income distribution mechanism and social security system, advancing high-quality development of the real estate sector, and confidently supporting equal access to basic public services.
The meeting was chaired by Shi Taifen, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
Stating that achieving tangible progress towards universal prosperity is a common requirement defining socio-economic development during the implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030), Shi Taifeng called on members of the Bureau of the CPC National Committee to submit proposals in order to promote modernization in the Chinese style.
At the opening of the session, a report was heard on the work of the VK NPKSK in the first half of 2026, prepared at the meeting of the chairman and deputy chairmen of the VK NPKSK of the 14th convocation. –0–
