The fifth, anniversary season of the project has ended “Battle of Opinions”. The final tournament brought together three teams formed from among the leaders of student councils, mentors, and heads of departments of capital city colleges and universities. The event took place in the multifunctional space «Youth of Moscow” in Kholodilny Lane (house 3, building 1, structure 8).
“Moscow is a city of talented, ambitious, and caring youth. Our task is to create all the conditions for the abilities of young people to be revealed, and for the voices of the youth to be heard. We want them not just to dream of changes, but to get involved in youth policy, propose solutions, and personally transform the capital for the better. ‘Battle of Opinions’ is an example of how education turns into real actions and launches a chain of positive changes in the city,” noted Margarita Savinkina, head of the ‘Youth of Moscow’ project.
Project “Battle of Opinions” It is implemented by the Center for Support and Development of Socially Oriented Projects “Youth of the Capital” and is held with the support of the Moscow Mayor’s grant competition for socially oriented non-profit organizations (NPOs). Over five years, 20 thousand people have participated, including six thousand students from higher and secondary vocational education who joined in 2026. The project has turned into a large-scale platform for personal growth, uniting the active youth of the capital.
To become a participant in the project, you can give a presentation about it in Moscow educational institutions in February — March or write to the ANO community “The Youth of the Capital”. Interested students will be invited to an introductory coaching session. Upon request, the organizers can also conduct a presentation for the university activists.
The project’s anniversary season was held under the banner of “Voice of the Future.” Special attention was given to those who are already shaping the educational agenda today. Until July, participants underwent an intensive training course. They attended workshops on public speaking, team building, and leadership, as well as met with speakers. The program went beyond classic debates. The main goal was not just to learn how to speak eloquently but to master the art of persuasion in youth politics and everyday life.
In the final, the teams applied the skills they had acquired in practice. The debate unfolded across four key blocks, within which topics such as patriotism as a meaningful civic position, personal development — growth trajectories in a metropolis, leadership — responsibility for the team and results, and the team — effective interaction and synergy were discussed. A rapid voting system using cards was organized for the spectators: green signified support for the thesis, red signified disagreement with it. The participants’ speeches were evaluated by a professional jury composed of recognized experts in the field of oratory and representatives of youth policy in Russia.
The tournament winners received commemorative prizes from the organizers: the project’s branded merchandise, smart speakers, and subscription certificates for multimedia entertainment services from a well-known company. However, according to the organizers, the most important thing the event gave participants was confidence in their abilities and fundamental public communication skills, which will serve as a reliable foundation for implementing future projects in any field.
After the final tournament, the “Battle of Opinions” project will continue its work — final coaching sessions will be held at the end of August. The main goal is to evaluate the season’s results, gather feedback, and build a further development trajectory for each participant. The participants will identify the problems they encountered during the events and, together with the coaches, outline the next steps for personal and professional growth.
Graduates of previous seasons are already participating in the social life of the capital. Some of them continue to develop the city’s public infrastructure. For example, Denis Budushin, a graduate of the Russian State Social University, strives to popularize the art of public speaking among young people: he organizes nonprofit public speaking training sessions and hosts city events.
