“The pond in the Brateevsky Cascade Park is located in the floodplain of the Moscow River and is an artificial reservoir; it is a popular recreational spot for local residents — a walking path has been laid along the shore, lighting has been installed, and nearby there are children’s and sports playgrounds. However, during the inspection, it was found that the reservoir is in unsatisfactory condition, so a decision was made to carry out its comprehensive rehabilitation. The work will be completed by the end of 2026,” said Petr Biryukov.
A pond with an area of 0.7 hectares will be cleaned: specialists will extract about two thousand cubic meters of silt deposits. The shoreline measuring 319 meters in length will also be repaired. Its configuration will remain the same — completely gentle. Granite crushed stone will be used for reinforcement, which will be spread along the existing slope, including underwater sections.
In the western part of the pond, a bioplato zone of more than 200 square meters will be created, where aquatic plants of various species will be planted.
Surveys of the capital’s water bodies are conducted regularly. When problems are identified, a decision is made on rehabilitation. The list of water bodies is compiled annually taking into account the wishes of Muscovites.
