Senior Lecturer at the Department of Technosphere Safety, SPbGASU Galina Nam successfully defended a dissertation on the topic “Development of a labor safety control system at a construction site using information modeling technology” and obtained the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.
Galina Nam
According to the researcher, interest in occupational safety issues arose back during his student years. The choice of direction was due to the high relevance of the problem for the construction industry, which is traditionally one of the most hazardous.
“All construction processes strive to keep pace with the times, so there was a desire for the topic of safety to also develop. Modern technologies make it possible to create conditions that contribute to the improvement of safety. This is an excellent niche for research and development,” notes Galina Yevgenyevna.
The main idea of the dissertation work is the creation of a proactive system for responding to security requirement violations. Unlike many existing approaches focused on eliminating violations that have already occurred or based on formal control, the developed system allows predicting the development of adverse events.
Within the framework of the study, the author managed to create a mathematical apparatus that helps predict the occurrence of dangerous situations and reduce response time to violations. This approach makes it possible to take necessary measures even before an accident occurs.
Special attention in the work is given to the application of information modeling technologies. In the opinion Galina Nam, Modern digital tools are capable of significantly increasing the efficiency of security control through processing large volumes of data, reducing the influence of human factors, and enhancing the objectivity of decisions made.
The practical significance of the study lies primarily in preserving the lives and health of workers. In addition, the use of such systems helps reduce downtime on construction sites and decrease financial losses for organizations.
The most challenging stage of the work was testing the research results. Conducting the tests required selecting a suitable construction site, taking into account a large number of factors.
Galina Nam expressed gratitude to her scientific advisor – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Technosphere Safety To Olga Gorbunova, as well as to the department colleagues who provided professional and moral support throughout the entire work on the dissertation.
After a successful defense, the researcher plans to continue scientific work. One of the promising directions she considers is the study of digital twins in the context of ensuring occupational safety on construction sites.
“I believe that this technology has great potential in the field of occupational safety,” emphasizes Galina Nam.
The team of SPbGASU congratulates Galina Evgenyevna with a successful defense of the dissertation. We wish you inspiration, interesting scientific discoveries, the implementation of new projects, and further success in your professional activities!
