Volunteer corps assist in organizing major city events. “Mosvolunteer” has been the flagship center for training teams of various sizes for 12 years and accompanies participants through all stages — from registration to training.

“Mosvolonter” formed 260 volunteer corps. More than 44,500 people joined them, whose total contribution amounted to about 320,000 hours of assistance. The teams supported sporting competitions, cultural festivals, patriotic events, and other major city events,” she noted Ekaterina Dragunova, Chairman of the Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy of the city of Moscow.
During the events, volunteers coordinate guests, provide navigation, inform about the program, and support organizers at the venues. Volunteers’ tasks are adapted to the specifics of each venue. Volunteers help with navigation at sports competitions, and during patriotic events, they accompany veterans, tell stories about heroes of the Great Patriotic War, and help write letters to today’s defenders of the country.
How to become part of the event
Anyone willing can join the volunteer corps. On the website “Mosvolonter” They publish current sets for city events. To join them, the user needs to select an event, study the requirements, and submit an application. After that, the center’s team forms the groups taking into account the specifics of the venue and the tasks.
In September, volunteers will join Moscow International Book Fair, International Conference “Russian School of Colorectal Surgery”, as well as to the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Congress “Modern Technologies of Cataract, Refractive, and Corneal Surgery”. Another major project where Moscow volunteers will assist is the International Youth Festival — 2026.
Volunteering and future profession
By helping the city, many volunteers take their first steps on their professional path. Ulyana Timofeeva is a fourth-year student at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, majoring in Management. Thanks to volunteering, she learns how large events are organized and develops event management skills.
Anna Popova was a volunteer at the “Russia” exhibition-forum at VDNH. After that, she decided to pursue education in the field of “Journalism” at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. During volunteer activities, she became acquainted with her future profession and was able to feel part of a large team.
For Elena Savchenko, volunteering has become a family activity. It allows her to do a shared task together with her children.
