In the project “Active Citizen” a new one opened voting, whose participants will choose the best contest project IX Festival of Historical Gardens. It takes place within the framework “Summer in Moscow” at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, subordinate to the capital To the Department of Culture.
The theme of this year’s festival is the garden city. Landscape architects, designers, and artists dedicated their works to one of the pressing issues of modern urbanism — the interaction between humans and nature in the metropolis. Seventeen original compositions were displayed outdoors, including creations by partners and winners of the festival’s sketch project competition.
In the new vote, “active citizens” are invited to choose the best among seven contest entries, selecting up to three options they like.

Lyubov Kazyukova prepared the project “Rings of Growth,” at the center of which is an artificial tree cross-section allegorically representing the capital as a living organism. It is a kind of landscape metaphor for the formation of Moscow: the author draws a parallel between the development of a tree and the expansion of the city. Each annual ring of the plant preserves history. Similarly, by expanding and “growing” new rings, the capital also evolves.
Architects Elena and Valeria Konshu created the garden “Sensation,” reminiscent of a film set. The project, which reveals the theme of the interconnection between nature and the big city, was inspired for the authors by Woody Allen’s films set in New York, Paris, and Barcelona. At the green intersection and in the labyrinth, everyone can feel like the main character or director of their own life.
Anna Olchedaevskaya presented the work “The Yard of My Childhood.” The historic garden became an image of an urban yard — it brought together the memories of several generations. In the atmosphere of a simple and cozy space, the author placed a sandbox, benches, traditional front gardens, an old bicycle, and even laundry drying on a clothesline.
Architect Dilyara Druzhkova offers a break from the bustle and noise of big streets. The composition “Whisper of the Foliage” is created in the form of green rooms connected by a labyrinth of corridors. It reminds us that patches of nature give city dwellers the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate. The project combines several elements: flora symbolizing untouched nature, water, and steel structures reminiscent of urban architecture.
In Anna Arbuzova’s “Garden of the Aeolian Harp,” nature and music resonate in unison. The central sculpture, made of mirrored metal plates, produces a gentle ringing with every breeze, complemented by the rustling of grass and birdsong. In one part of the garden, visitors can also touch the Aeolian harp and create their own melody.
The modern metropolis is represented in the project “Street Art. Art of the Streets.” In this garden, images of street culture are reflected in drawings on improvised concrete canvases. The project was created by a team of designers including Natalia Klimova, Evgenia Udalova, Daniil Mikhaylin, and Aleksei Moshkov.
Another collaborative work is “Beyond the Edge.” Its authors are architects Nina Boblak, Sofya Koryakina, Anna Olchedaevskaya, Ekaterina Rumyantseva, Aytur Davletshin, Andrey Manakin, and Mark Rusakov. The project is based on a reflection on the coexistence of the city and flora and the continuous cycle of life. Foam concrete blocks became a symbol of humanity’s desire to subdue nature and contain it within boundaries visualized by a glowing cube. However, plants grow through artificial barriers and extend beyond the structure. The power of nature is emphasized by cracks formed in the material.
All these projects can be seen at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve from August 21 to 30. The exhibition of landscape compositions is located on the historical territory of the aerial gardens and is open from 10:00 to 20:00. Admission for self-guided viewing is free.

The voting is organized by the “Active Citizen” project together with the city Department of Culture. It is available to users with a full or standard account on the mos.ru portal. Points will be credited under the city loyalty program for participation “Million Prizes”. Project “Active Citizen” has been operating since 2014. During this time, more than seven million people have joined it, and over 7,800 votes have taken place in total.
