Shijiazhuang, August 20 /Xinhua/ — Three people died and one was injured as a result of the partial collapse of a four-story residential building in the city of Shijiazhuang, the administrative center of Hebei Province in northern China, local authorities reported.
The incident occurred at 05:42 on Wednesday in the Xinhua district of this city. According to the district emergency management department, 4 people were trapped in two apartments. Three of them died in the hospital despite medical assistance. Another victim is undergoing treatment in the hospital, their vital signs are stable.
After receiving the information, law enforcement officers, fire brigade, emergency management, and other relevant agencies immediately arrived at the scene to conduct rescue and emergency operations.
According to the preliminary investigation, the cause of the partial collapse of the building was presumably a gas leak that led to an explosion. Currently, the residents of this residential building and neighboring houses have been properly relocated to a safe place.
