From August 20 to 23, events dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation will be held in Moscow. A run, environmental campaigns, workshops on traditional crafts, cooking and various arts, patriotic and gastronomic festivals, as well as concerts and flash mobs, await Muscovites and tourists.
The largest-scale program will be one that unites 200 cultural venues across the city. More than 250 events. These are film screenings, performances, concerts, lectures, and excursions dedicated to the history of our country and its official symbols. Most of the events are free to attend.

Guests can enjoy assembling a spilz-map, engineering games, the engineering table “Polymer Laboratory: Tricolor”, the quiz “Heroes”, a themed photo zone, a photo booth, face painting, and the distribution of tricolor ribbons. MosKino Film Park On August 22, there will be a bright dance flash mob. All willing participants will be given cards of three colors: white, red, and blue, and they will simultaneously raise them above their heads, forming the live Russian tricolor. At the MosKino film park, guests will be able not only to become part of this spectacular performance but also to take part in staged filming, master classes, and an interactive quest. Race and master classes of the “Youth of Moscow” project
The project has prepared its program for Russia’s Flag Day “Moscow Youth”. The events will take place at the MosKino film park, as well as at the venue of the “Summer in Moscow” project on Tverskaya Square.

On Tverskaya Square On August 22, an open family patriotic festival will take place “Your Colors”. It will start at 15:30. An interactive historical quiz, creative performances on stage, prize drawings, and a flash mob performing the traditional folk dance ‘Moscow Quadrille’ await all who wish to participate.
At the workshops, they will teach the technique of knot weaving and making bracelets from threads of white, blue, and red mouliné, as well as making paracord jewelry. A special day at the “Flavors of Russia” festival and in the “Summer Market” pavilion
Farmers, chefs, and performers invite you to celebrate Flag Day at the festival “Flavors of Russia”, which takes place within the framework of the project “Summer in Moscow”. All visitors will be introduced to the most iconic products of domestic production — from Vologda butter to Kamchatka sockeye salmon. In honor of this, farmers from 75 regions will present products that constitute the gastronomic pride of the country. Guests can expect a special festive program: themed master classes, creative workshops on painting kitchen utensils, cooking lessons led by chef Dmitry Vyrodov, and performances by folk ensembles from all over Russia, united under one flag.
For young researchers, a special master class “Flag of Russia” will be held in the scientific zone of the Kurchatov Institute from 10:00 to 22:00: children will learn about the amazing properties of manganese, whose compounds are colored in different hues, and will practically test these chemical transformations by creating the colors of the Russian tricolor before their eyes.
At the Rosselkhozbank venue, a master class on creating a magnet with an original drawing will begin at 1:00 PM, and at 2:00 PM there will be a session on painting matryoshkas. Participants will decorate wooden figures with traditional patterns, adding colors of the Russian tricolor to the palette if they wish. At 4:00 PM, everyone will be able to stylize an apron using regional ornaments and thematic images.
Throughout the day, folk groups representing the peoples of Russia, united under one flag, will perform here. The festival program will open at 10:15 with the folk choir “White Dewdrops” and the honored choreographic group “Red Sun” from the Lipetsk region. At 11:15, soloist Anastasia Lysyakova from the Novosibirsk region will take the stage, followed at 12:00 by the folk ensemble “Talan” from the Smolensk region. In the evening, at 19:10, the program will continue with performances by the people’s Udmurt folk ensemble “Butmar” and the Krezist ensemble “Lulgur” — you will be able to hear the sound of the Udmurt string plucked instrument called krez.
In the festival’s restaurant courtyard, chefs from all corners of the country will gather to showcase the cuisines of the peoples of Russia. Here, guests will be able to try gastronomic highlights from different regions: legendary Buryat buuzy and fried khushury with beef, Dagestani lamb kebab “Barandi” and Botlikh pie, Ossetian pies with beef and beet leaves, Bashkir beshbarmak and echpochmak, as well as Udmurt perepechi with meat, cottage cheese, and cabbage, among other dishes. Behind each of them lies a whole world: centuries-old customs, family recipes, and the soul of a people who have carefully preserved them through generations.
In addition, it will be possible not only to taste national dishes but also to watch chef Dmitry Vyrodov prepare them at the “Petelinka” brand stand. At 13:00, there will be a master class on making Lipetsk okroshka with white kvass and chicken fillet; at 15:00, on Belgorod-style chicken onion cones; and at 17:00, on Voronezh chicken medallions with sage.
Guests will be able to purchase unique products that represent the gastronomic wealth of every corner of our country. The festival will feature over five thousand items from producers in more than 75 regions — ranging from Vologda butter and Tula gingerbread to Kamchatka sockeye salmon and Baikal cedar nuts. Symbolically, products reflecting Russia’s national pride and culinary traditions are especially widely represented.
Visitors will be able to taste and buy Taimyr basturma made from reindeer meat, Yamalo fish preserves, Astrakhan sturgeon caviar, Karelian berry pastila, Altai cold-pressed oils, and Bashkir honey — each of these products carries the taste and character of its region. Traditional Russian treats — Kolomna pastila, Belev smockva, Suzdal mead and gingerbread from various cities, as well as cheeses from private dairies in the Moscow region, Crimea, Altai, and Adygea — will make excellent gastronomic souvenirs.
Everyone who wants to have an exciting time is awaited on August 22 in the art pavilion “Summer Market” the “Made in Moscow” project at Bolotnaya Square. At 14:30, a quiz with questions about the national flag will begin there. The event will help guests to delve deeper into the history of the national symbol, learn about its meaning and interpretations. About the secrets of the tricolor symbolism in creativity palaces and eco-centers
For those who want to celebrate Russian Flag Day without leaving their district, the city’s creative centers have prepared themed events. On August 20 at 17:00 at Palace of Creativity for Children and Youth “Uncharted Islands” (Uvarovsky Lane, building 12) will host a master class.
