In the garden of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts from August 20 to 23 as part of the arts festival “Russian CoT” and “Summer in Moscow” the project days will take place “Moscow is a city of discoveries”. His partners prepared a special program called “Invented and Made.” It is a continuation of the theme of the eponymous competition-biennale of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts.

The program will help young guests try themselves in various fields of the creative industries. The children will draw comics, create their own cartoons, learn to craft architectural models, and design digital characters. A special hospitality lesson will also be organized for participants of the 5th International Children’s Cultural Forum.

Master classes will be held by representatives of “Soyuzmultfilm” and the Gorky Film Studio, specialists from the Russian National Museum of Music, the Tsar-Maket diorama museum, the children’s design school of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” (HSE), and the technopark of the Russian State Social University. Thanks to practical sessions, schoolchildren will learn more about modern professions and those specialties that will be in demand in the future, try themselves in various fields, and understand which skills are necessary for specialists in creative and technological industries.

Event Program

The classes of the HSE Children’s Design School will take place on August 20 at 12:00, 12:50, 13:40 and 14:30, August 21, at 12:30 and 13:20, as well as on August 23 12:00, 12:50 and 13:40. Participants will create original masks, architectural structures, and moving snakes, as well as get acquainted with graphic design. Having mastered the basics of composition and light, they will develop a poster, coat of arms, emblem, or flag for their own world.

The animation studio “Soyuzmultfilm” invites you to animation master classes, which will take place on August 20 from 16:30 to 18:30. Under the guidance of an animator, the children will create their own cartoon using the paper cut-out technique.

The diorama museum “Tsar-Maket” offers to learn how to assemble miniature models. Guests are awaited on August 21 from 15:00 to 16:30. At 15:00 and 16:00, for the participants of the V International Children’s Cultural Forum, there will begin hospitality lessons. The children will get acquainted with the principles of intercultural communication through play and discuss what a truly hospitable city should be like and what qualities a warm-hearted person should have. In addition, they will visit the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts as part of the career guidance educational and tourism project “Moscow — City of Discoveries.”

On the same day, the technopark of the Russian State Social University invites you to classes, dedicated to modern technologies. From 17:00 to 20:30, schoolchildren will try to create a character using basic 3D modeling tools, solve logic puzzles, program the robot’s movement trajectory, and develop their own digital avatar.

The Russian National Museum of Music is organizing on August 22 from 13:30 to 16:30 interactive programs “How They Played in Rus'” and “Noise Allowed!” Children will learn how leisure time was spent in Russia during different historical periods, get acquainted with musical and noise-making instruments, and try themselves as members of an orchestra. And the day will end master classes Gorky Film Studio: from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, everyone will be able to come up with a story and a character, and then draw their own comic.

“Summer in Moscow” — the main event of the season, which has already become a good tradition and an integral part of the city’s life. The main theme this year is “Time to be together.” The project unites people of different generations around common values, allowing them to get closer not only to their relatives but also to the whole city through walks, cultural and sports events, charity actions, as well as right near home in all districts of the capital.

The “City of Discoveries” project is being implemented as part of the national project “Youth and Children” with the aim of introducing schoolchildren to career opportunities in Russia and assisting in career guidance.
