Moscow schoolchildren and college students have returned from the Great Arctic Expedition. They visited the northernmost point of Eurasia — Cape Chelyuskin. Fourteen Muscovites split into two groups — “Arctic Explorers” and “Guardians of History.” The expedition was led by the famous traveler Matvey Shparo. Sergey Sobyanin reported this on his channel on in the messenger “Max”.
“Young researchers, assigned by 11 scientific institutes, observed the flora and fauna, collected water and soil samples, and preserved plant specimens. They also managed to record a solar eclipse,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.

The “Guardians of History” participated in the large-scale environmental project “Clean Arctic” and, together with specialists, launched a scientific weather balloon. In addition, the guys restored one and fully recreated two steles of the memorial dedicated to Soviet polar explorers.
The major Arctic expedition has been organized by the capital city since 2018 Department of Education and Science.
“This year, more than 10,000 young Muscovites took part in the qualifying rounds,” added Sergey Sobyanin.
