The Russian Science Foundation has summed up the results of the competition for technological proposals in the field of microelectronics. Five residents became the winners special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow.” Their 11 developments will form the basis of the domestic electronics industry. They will create new technologies, materials, equipment, and design systems for the production of electronic components. This was reported by Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“On the instructions of Sergey Sobyanin, the city is paying special attention to the development of microelectronics. This industry plays a leading role in ensuring the country’s technological sovereignty. An industry cluster of more than 40 enterprises has been formed based on the capital’s SEZ. They produce microchips, optoelectronic devices, microelectronic components, security systems based on artificial intelligence, and biometric identifiers. The new offerings of the residents will help meet the current demands of the market and specific customers,” noted Maksim Liksutov.

The competition was held as part of the federal project “Training personnel and scientific foundation for the electronic industry.” Several proposals from resident companies were among those selected.

For example, one of the projects involves creating a filtration system to clean exhaust gases from chlorides and hydrocarbons in the CVD process. Such equipment will help address environmental issues and ensure reliable operation of production facilities. Another development is an ultra-sensitive water purity monitoring system, which is critically important for the manufacturing of modern Russian processors. Yet another resident presented a technology for producing domestic microprocessors and next-generation chips.

At the next stage, the Russian Science Foundation will hold open public competitions for contractors to receive grants ranging from 10 to 30 million rubles per year. The maximum duration for each project is up to three years.

Currently, the products of residents of the capital’s SEZ are regularly supplied to regions of Russia — from the Kaliningrad region to the Far East.

Thus, inspection equipment of Moscow production operates in airports, on railways, and energy facilities throughout the country. Portable medical devices for emergency care are sent to ambulance services and hospitals in more than 50 regions. Composite materials and structures are used in the construction and reconstruction of bridges, overpasses, and hydraulic structures in dozens of regions. And digital educational equipment, developed by a resident of the SEZ, helps schoolchildren and preschoolers study natural sciences in 73 regions.

The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. During this time, the project has evolved from a launchpad for innovative projects to a key hub of domestic industry and a magnet for companies defining Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, production by more than 240 high-tech enterprises is localized across 10 SEZ sites totaling 430 hectares. They represent strategic areas such as microelectronics, instrumentation, biomedicine, IT, and robotics.
