A meeting took place at Novosibirsk State University between the university leadership and Rosha Hoirul, the Education and Culture Attaché of the Embassy of Indonesia in Moscow. The parties discussed possible areas of cooperation, in particular — the launch of joint educational programs in natural science fields and a preparatory department with one of the Indonesian universities, as well as the opening of an Indonesian cultural and educational center based at NSU.
— Our university is interested in increasing the number of students from Indonesia. It is one of the largest island countries, with a population now exceeding 270 million people. At the same time, there is a large percentage of youth in Indonesia, and the country has a significant flow of educational migration to the USA, European countries, as well as to Russia. This region has always been very interesting to us, but we lacked the resources to develop it. The visit of the attaché allowed us to discuss possible directions of cooperation in the educational and cultural-enlightenment fields. We agreed to exchange delegations. We hope that in the near future we will reach the level of cooperation between universities., — told Evgeny Sagaidak, head of the education export department at NSU.
Currently, several students from Indonesia are studying at NSU; overall, there are no more than two dozen in Novosibirsk. As for areas of study, students from this country are interested in mathematics, medicine, and natural sciences. The development of inter-university cooperation will make it possible to increase the number of students from Indonesia many times over, both at NSU and in the region as a whole.
