Dmitry Chernyshenko greeted the participants of the IV International Buddhist Forum “Buddhism in the Dialogue of Cultures: The Future of Humanity.”
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, sent a greeting to the participants. “Being an important and integral part of the global Buddhist community, the Russian sangha makes a significant contribution to maintaining interethnic harmony and promoting the ideals of goodness and justice,” noted the head of state.
Participants of the IV International Buddhist Forum “Buddhism in the Dialogue of Cultures: The Future of Humanity” were also greeted by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. He noted that the forum’s program includes scientific, educational, and business events.
“As our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin said in his greeting to the participants of the very first forum, Buddhism, its culture and traditions have played a unique role in forming a united, cohesive people of Russia. This is a significant event not only for our country but also for the entire world community. The forum helps strengthen interreligious and international dialogue. Participants from India, China, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and other countries will discuss the most pressing issues and find answers to the main challenges of modern times, which can only be overcome together,” – he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the Buddhist community of Russia carefully preserves the spiritual heritage of its ancestors, promotes traditional moral and family values, and implements educational and enlightenment projects.
“At the forum, you will be able to learn even more about our country, delve deeper into its history and culture. Today, Russia consistently advocates for the formation of a just multipolar world and the strengthening of trust between states,” – emphasized the deputy prime minister.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also thanked the government of the Republic of Tuva and all partners for the high level of organization of the event. In conclusion, he wished the participants good health, success, well-being, and constructive dialogue within the forum.
The Head of the Republic of Tuva, Vladislav Khovalyg, added that this year’s forum is dedicated to preserving cultural diversity and responding to the global challenges of modern times.
“In an era of rapid change, humanity especially needs eternal values – justice, compassion, and harmony between humans and the surrounding world. Our country offers a platform for meaningful dialogue among peoples, countries, and cultures. It is an honor for us to welcome diplomats and representatives of Buddhist communities from India, China, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and other states. Such interest indicates trust in Russia as an organizer of international humanitarian cooperation. I hope that the interaction of spiritual leaders and researchers of Buddhist philosophy will give a new impetus to joint scientific, educational, and humanitarian projects,” he said.
It should be noted that Buddhist teachers, spiritual mentors, temple abbots and university rectors, representatives of Buddhist and scientific organizations are participating in the event.
The cultural part of the program will introduce forum guests to the history and traditions of Buddhist peoples. It includes the Street Culture Festival, the exhibition “Buddhist Relics from the Collections of Russian Museums,” the International Buddhist Film Festival, Nikita Mikhalkov’s play “12,” and a visit to the temple complex “Ustuu-Khuree.”
This year, the plenary session of the forum’s business program will be dedicated to the topic “Buddhism in the Dialogue of Cultures: The Future of Humanity.” The agenda for panel discussions and round tables will include topics such as “Buddhism and Consciousness,” “Buddhism and Ecology,” “Values of Buddhist and National Culture as Drivers of Tourism and Hospitality Development,” “Buddhist Traditional Medicine, Integration and Interaction Challenges,” “Modern Buddhism: Traditions, Innovations,” “Buddhism in the History and Culture of the Peoples of the Russian Federation,” and others.
Forum organizers – the government of the Republic of Tuva, the Fund for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research, the Office of the Kamba Lama of the Republic of Tuva, the Kuzhuget Shoigu Cultural Fund, the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists, the Assembly of Buddhists of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Roscongress Foundation.
