Beijing, August 18 /Xinhua/ — China on Tuesday announced a set of measures to further stimulate consumption in grassroots markets and revive consumer spending at the county level, according to recommendations jointly developed by the Ministry of Commerce of China and eight other government departments.

According to this document, in order to modernize consumption channels in counties, it is necessary to support the reconstruction of shopping centers in settlements and volosts, agricultural markets, and complexes for local fairs, attract domestic and international brands to open regional debut stores, as well as encourage the use of various methods for the reconstruction and development of existing land plots.

Regarding the development of new business models in counties, the document provides support for enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in opening multiple retail outlets under a single business license within the same county. At the same time, efforts will also be focused on promoting popular domestic brands in county markets and developing a consumption chain that integrates the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors of the economy.
