Beijing, August 13 /Xinhua/ — In the first 7 months of 2026, the total volume of exports and imports of China through the Erenhot checkpoint /Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia, Northern China/ reached 65.83 billion yuan /approximately 9.7 billion US dollars/, an increase of 18.1 percent compared to the same period last year, the government of Erenhot city reported on its website.
In January-July, the volume of imported and exported cargo transported through the specified border crossing increased by 12.8 percent year-on-year, reaching 12.727 million tons. In particular, imports of goods through this checkpoint grew by 10.7 percent to 9.848 million tons, while exports reached 2.879 million tons with an increase of 20.9 percent.
As the largest land border checkpoint on the China-Mongolia border, Erenhot serves as an important customs clearance point for Chinese and foreign goods, connecting Russia, Mongolia, and the economic zone of Hohhot-Baotou-Yinchuan-Yulin.
