Beijing, August 13 /Xinhua/ — Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qiang signed the State Council decree on the publication of the “Decision on Making Amendments and Revoking Certain Administrative Regulations” in connection with the entry into force on Saturday of the Code on Ecology and Environment.
The State Council of the PRC decided to amend 12 resolutions, including those concerning the nationwide census of pollution sources and environmental monitoring, to ensure their compliance with the provisions of the said code.
Three more administrative rulings will be canceled in accordance with new requirements to promote high-quality development and ecological progress.
The specified measure is intended to ensure the creation of a unified regulatory framework with consistent and well-coordinated rules in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection.
The decision will come into force on Saturday.
The Code on Ecology and Environment was adopted in March of this year at the 4th session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC).
It consists of 5 sections and includes 1242 articles. The sections cover areas such as pollution control, environmental protection, as well as green and low-carbon development.
The code aligns with China’s commitments to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. -0-
