At the International Restoration Center
As part of the international summer scientific and educational restoration school “Heritage of Vyborg and Rostov-on-Don,” participants continue to acquaint themselves with leading restoration organizations, historical sites, and contemporary architectural practices in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
On August 7, the school participants visited the GAUK LO “International Restoration Center.” Getting acquainted with the center’s activities allowed the students to learn more about modern approaches to preserving cultural heritage sites, organizing restoration work, and the practical aspects of the restorer profession.

On the same day, there was an excursion to the Rozhdestveno Estate Museum – one of the most famous historical and cultural sites in the Leningrad Region, associated with the history of the Nabokov family. Participants were able to learn about the estate’s architecture, its history, and the features of preserving the historical environment.

The person responsible for organizing the visit was the assistant of the Department of Architectural and Urban Heritage at SPbGASU Alyona Turpak.
On August 8, the program continued on the campus of Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. From 12:00, participants worked in design studios, where they were able to apply the knowledge gained during the school in preparing their own design solutions.
The work of the students was supervised by specialists and university lecturers. The person responsible for attending the project workshops was an associate professor of the Department of Geodesy, Land Management, and Cadasters. Alexey Volkov.
August 9 was dedicated to independent and team work. Participants were engaged in searching for historical and project information, office processing of the obtained materials, as well as preparing data for further project development. The work took place both in teams and individually.
Students could spend their free time getting acquainted with Petersburg or going to Peterhof. On this day, participants of the school were given the opportunity to visit the museum sites of Peterhof for free.
