They spoke about the value of friendship and the importance of one’s own desires at the closing of the first “University Shift” of 2026 at GUU.

50 schoolchildren from 24 regions of Russia met with the honored guests of the GUU to summarize the results of 10 days spent at the country’s first management university.

The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector of GUU, Artem Terpugov:

“During the ‘University Session,’ we wanted to show you what university life can be like so that you could decide on your future direction. However, the most important thing in the project is the community you have formed here; continue to stay in touch even after the session. We hope that over these 10 days, GUU has become a little home for you, where you will want to return.”

The guest of honor at the end of the shift, Senator of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Elena Pisareva, agreed that the most important thing is to find friends.

“You are lucky; you have a unique opportunity to participate in various projects. Today you are at the ‘University Shifts’ in the State University of Management, and this is your chance to learn something new and make friends. Friendship is the most important thing. When you are in a friendly environment, you develop faster and discover new things.”

After the welcoming part, Elena Pisareva and Artem Terpugov answered the students’ questions, shared their life and professional experiences, and themselves asked the participants how they evaluate the past session.

All the guys agreed that they really liked GUU; many of them had participated in the project more than once, having also visited other universities. Those who responded named their goals as wanting to see university life from the inside, to decide on their future profession, to visit new cities, and to make friends.

Artem Terpugov noted that the most important advice in life was given by his father, and he advised the guys to listen to it as well.

“Treat others the way you want to be treated. Be kind to everyone and everything will be fine. I want to add that the more social interaction you have, the greater the chance to learn what you want and to get where you want. It is important to understand what is important and interesting to you and to follow that path.”

Speaking about choosing a profession, Elena Pisareva emphasized that one should first and foremost listen to their own desires and thoughts, and only then consider advice, even from close people.

“If you listen to others and go where they say, you will still end up returning to the direction you wanted. Think ‘what if’ and look at what you are currently doing from a different angle. Therefore, you need to approach the choice of profession thoughtfully and not be afraid to change something. Become who you want to be, but work honestly and purely, treating each other kindly,” concluded the senator.

After the ceremonial part, all the children were presented with certificates for successfully completing the “University Shift”.

Recall that the State University of Management has been conducting “University Shifts” for five years — since the first year of the project’s launch. Participants of the first shift of 2026 spent 10 days studying at the State University of Management, exploring the capital’s landmarks, visiting the Rosmolodezh office, and taking part in activities organized by the “Movement of the First” and VSKS. Over 100 leading universities of Russia participate in the project, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Movement of the First, Rosmolodezh, and SBER.
