The total volume of transactions in the derivatives market of the Moscow Exchange in July 2026 amounted to nearly 17.5 trillion rubles, which is 71% higher compared to July of the previous year. The volume of open positions in the exchange-traded derivatives market at the end of the month increased by 8%, reaching 2.8 trillion rubles (2.6 trillion rubles for July 2025).
Futures and options transactions on the Moscow Exchange in July were carried out by nearly 150 thousand clients (+9% compared to July 2025). The number of active brokerage accounts in July increased by 15% compared to July 2025, reaching 217 thousand. The share of private investors in the total trading volume of exchange derivatives amounted to 51%.
35.6% of the volume of private investors’ transactions in July was accounted for by currency derivatives, the share of equity and index contracts was 35.3%, and the share of commodity futures and options was 29.1%.

The share of the evening trading session in the total trading volume on the derivatives market amounted to 10.5%. Morning trades in July accounted for 7.5% of the total trading volume. The volume of operations on weekends in the derivatives market amounted to 178 billion rubles.
In July, historical maximum volumes of transactions were recorded in several groups of derivatives market instruments simultaneously. The average daily trading volume of quarterly contracts on indices reached 134.4 billion rubles, exceeding the previous record set in February 2025 by 21.3%. In particular, the trading volume of futures on the MOEX Index (MIX) and MOEX Index (mini) (MXI) reached 101 billion and 13.8 billion rubles per day, respectively. The maximum average daily trading volume was recorded in futures on the RGBI government bond index – 2.5 billion in July 2026 (1.9 billion in June 2026).
The average daily trading volume of perpetual futures in July also reached a historical high and amounted to 126.7 billion rubles (+15% compared to June 2026). The average daily trading volume of perpetual futures on the MOEX Index (IMOEXF) reached 43 billion rubles per day, perpetual contracts on Sberbank shares (SBERF) – 1.2 billion rubles, Gazprom (GAZPF) – 1 billion rubles, and the government bond index RGBI (RGBIF) – 376.7 million rubles.
In the commodity instruments segment, a historic peak was recorded in the average daily trading volume for cocoa (COCOA) and coffee (COFFEE) futures – 13.6 billion and 1.6 billion rubles respectively.
In July, the Moscow Exchange expanded its range of instruments to the South Korean market: on July 9, trading began in the KOREA futures on shares of the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF, and on July 16, contracts HYNIX and SAMSUNG on shares of SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics started. The new instruments showed high interest from market participants: the total trading volume since launch reached almost 1 billion rubles, and open positions at the end of July amounted to nearly 350 million rubles.
In July 2026, the Moscow Exchange extended trading hours on the derivatives market for two additional hours: trading on the derivatives market on working days is now conducted from 06:50 to 23:50. The total trading volume during the extended trading hours from 7:00 to 9:00 in July amounted to more than 378 billion rubles. Also in July, transactions with currency futures became available within the framework of weekend trading, with the trading volume of currency futures on weekends in July totaling 25 billion rubles.
