Investors significantly increased investments in money market exchange-traded funds: in July 2026, the net inflow of funds reached 33.7 billion rubles, which became the highest figure since the beginning of the current year. The July volume is 3.5 times higher than the average monthly net inflow in the first half of 2026. The calculation includes all transactions with money market exchange-traded mutual funds (ETMF) on the Moscow Exchange.
The income volume of exchange-traded and open money market fund owners in July also reached the highest level this year, amounting to 27.9 billion rubles. The open position of managers of such funds is 2.1 trillion rubles, which is 1.6 times higher than the figure a year earlier.
Dmitry Danilenko, Director of Money Market Development at the Moscow Exchange:
“In July, we recorded a significant increase in investor interest in money market funds. The net inflow for the past month amounted to more than half (58%) of all investments in such funds for the first half of 2026. The growth in income was supported by the positive spread of the exchange-traded money market index (RUSFAR) over the key rate of the Bank of Russia in July. For the first time in a long while, the RUSFAR rate was above the key rate — on average by 0.13% per annum, whereas in the first half of the year the spread was negative (-0.39%). Amid instability and increased volatility in the global financial markets, the Russian money market segment remains attractive to private investors in terms of profitability and reliability.”
