In 2026, the Russian construction community celebrates a significant date — the 70th anniversary of Builder’s Day. The professional holiday was established in 1955, and it was first celebrated in August 1956. Since then, it has united millions of specialists whose work shapes the appearance of cities, the development of infrastructure, and the quality of life of people. This year, Builder’s Day is celebrated on August 9.

The construction industry has always been and remains one of the key sectors for the country’s development. Over seven decades, thanks to the work of builders, engineers, architects, designers, restorers, and representatives of many other professions, new cities and residential areas, industrial enterprises, transport highways, bridges, educational and medical institutions, as well as cultural and sports facilities were built. Today, the construction complex is actively implementing digital technologies, information modeling, modern materials, and eco-friendly solutions, while preserving its main mission — to create a safe, comfortable, and sustainable living environment.

A special role in the development of the industry belongs to specialized universities that train a new generation of specialists. For nearly two centuries, SPbGASU has made a significant contribution to the development of domestic construction, architecture, road facilities, and the housing and utilities sector. The university’s graduates participate in the implementation of major projects in Russia and abroad, working in design organizations, construction companies, research centers, and government agencies.

Today at SPbGASU, students master not only fundamental engineering disciplines but also modern digital design tools, information modeling technologies, methods of cultural heritage restoration, principles of sustainable construction, and building lifecycle management. Practice-oriented training, collaboration with leading employers, and involvement in scientific research enable future specialists to confidently respond to the challenges of the modern construction industry.

The anniversary of Builder’s Day is an occasion to express gratitude to everyone who, through their labor, creates cities, preserves architectural heritage, designs the future, and nurtures new generations of professionals. It is thanks to their knowledge, responsibility, and craftsmanship that modern residential neighborhoods, public spaces, roads, bridges, and social facilities emerge, which will be used by millions of people.

SPbGASU congratulates teachers, staff, students, graduates, and all representatives of the construction industry on the 70th anniversary of Builder’s Day! We wish you good health, professional success, inspiration, the realization of the boldest projects, and new achievements for the benefit of Russia.
