Active work continues in Russia to develop user services and infrastructure on highways. Among other things, projects are being implemented to create a network of multifunctional road service zones (MFZ). Four modern MFZs have been launched on the M-12 “Vostok” highway in the Vladimir region, as well as on the M-4 “Don” highway in the Moscow and Voronezh regions. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“The modernization of the road network is a crucial component of the country’s development. It allows for the creation of comfortable conditions for fast and safe travel on quality roads, including opportunities to rest along the way. In particular, on high-speed highways, a project is being implemented to create a network of modern multifunctional road service zones. As part of this work, during the peak tourist season, such multifunctional zones opened in the Moscow, Voronezh, and Vladimir regions on the M-12 “Vostok” and M-4 “Don” highways. Now motorists have even more spots to restore their strength on the road and maintain concentration, which impacts the safety of all road users. On the M-12 “Vostok,” two mirrored multifunctional zones opened. One of them – in the direction to Kazan – has a unified service building with an area of about 1,000 sq. meters, and the other – in the direction to Moscow – features a complex with a building of 450 sq. meters. Full conditions have been created here for visitors, offering an extended range of services and comfortable rest. According to Vyacheslav Petushenko, head of the state company Avtodor, with the opening of two multifunctional zones in the Vladimir region, their total number on the M-12 “Vostok” section from Moscow to Kazan has increased to 26. Moreover, the developed roadside infrastructure is becoming a driver of business activity, domestic tourism, and the creation of new jobs. This ensures dynamic socio-economic development.
“On the M-4 ‘Don’ in the Moscow region heading south, as well as in the Voronezh region towards Moscow, two renovated Motorway Service Areas (MSAs) have opened as part of their comprehensive modernization. These facilities are built according to the service standards developed and implemented within the unified MSA concept. They meet the requirements of the family-centric principle – creating all conditions for comfortable stops for motorists with children. On the MSA premises, there are unified service buildings of about 1,000 square meters. Here, one can purchase all necessary goods in the sales area and use food services, visit comfortable and spacious restrooms. For families with children, there is a closed children’s play area, as well as a specialized mother-and-child room. Additionally, shower and self-service laundry facilities are available to users. MSA standards on Avtodor routes include rest areas for drivers and passengers, summer terraces under canopies, zones for bus passenger drop-off and pick-up, tire inflation spots, recreational zones with children’s and sports playgrounds, and great attention to user comfort,” noted Vyacheslav Petushenko.
