At the Yaroslavsky railway station in Moscow, the ceremonial launch of the pilot educational project “Ring of Discoveries” of the Rosmolodezh program “More than a Journey” took place. More than 250 people participated: students of 7th–8th grades and accompanying teachers from 34 regions of Russia. They will set off on a four-day journey on a specially designated train along the route Moscow – Ivanovo – Yaroslavl – Vladimir – Moscow.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, and the head of Rosmolodezh Grigory Gurov greeted the participants of the “Ring of Discoveries” project.
Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized that the project is being launched in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by President Vladimir Putin.
“You are in for an exciting journey and an introduction to the key sights of the oldest cities of Russia. Your trip is organized as part of the national tourist route ‘Golden Ring’, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027. This is one of the most recognizable routes in our country, providing insight into the chronicles of Russian statehood, culture, architecture, spiritual traditions, and the creative work of many generations. You will explore cities, work in teams, complete creative and educational tasks, and share your observations,” noted the deputy chairman of the Government in his greeting.
The educational program developed by the Ministry of Education combines knowledge of history, literature, visual arts, and geography.
“It is important that in their travels, schoolchildren not only get acquainted with the history and culture of our country but also have the opportunity to reveal their abilities. The Ministry of Education of Russia has developed a special educational program that will accompany the children throughout the entire route. It will be implemented by advisors to the directors on upbringing. Schoolchildren will participate in thematic lessons, team-building games, creative workshops, and practical assignments. Young people will create sketches of architectural details, try to convey the sound image of the temple, collect materials for the project ‘Cultural Code of the Golden Ring’, and the trip will culminate in the presentation of their own projects. This format will help children better understand the cultural heritage of Russia and feel a personal connection with the history of their country,” said Sergey Kravtsov.
The “Discovery Ring” program includes getting acquainted with the sights of the cities of the Golden Ring, educational and creative activities, team work, and socially useful work.
“The best way to get acquainted with the culture and history of the country is to travel around your native land. According to the study “Generation Index,” about 88% of young people rate their travel experience around Russia as positive. It is symbolic that the project “Ring of Discoveries” of the Rosmolodezh program “More Than a Journey” is launching in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and will allow schoolchildren and teachers to personally visit the ancient cities of the Golden Ring, see the most iconic places that became the source of the formation of our state. Following the journey, participants will develop educational projects dedicated to studying the cultural code of the Golden Ring,” noted Grigory Gurov.
Participants were presented with the main symbol of the project – the “Book of Stories.” During the trip, the children will continue to fill it with their observations, photos, and creative works. The ceremony was complemented by a performance from the vocal and choreographic ensemble “Brusnika.”
After the ceremony at Yaroslavsky railway station, the participants will go on a tour of the “Atom” museum at VDNKh, where they will learn about the history of the domestic nuclear industry – from the Soviet atomic project to modern peaceful technologies. They will visit Zaryadye Park, where a tour and a scientific educational program will take place for them at the “Reserved Embassy,” and they will also follow the route “From Ancient Rus to Modern Russia,” which will include the Moscow Kremlin, Red Square, and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. In the evening, the children will go to Ivanovo.
Each city on the route will be presented to the schoolchildren as a reflection of a particular historical era. In Ivanovo, participants will get acquainted with the industrial heritage and textile traditions, visit the Museum of Industry and Art, as well as the Ivanovo Chintz Museum or the “Moya Zabava” factory, where they will take master classes in stamping patterns and painting porcelain tiles. In Yaroslavl, the children will explore the historic center, the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve, and the V.V. Tereshkova Cultural and Educational Center, as well as participate in mosaic art or painting of Yaroslavl tiles. In Vladimir and Bogolyubovo, participants will see the Golden Gates, the Assumption and Dmitrievsky cathedrals, visit the “Palaty” museum center and the ensemble of the white-stone palace of Andrey Bogolyubsky.
During the relocations, participants will work in teams, complete research and creative tasks, create sketches of architectural details, and collect materials about the cultural heritage of the cities. The trip will conclude with the defense of group and individual projects on the theme “The Cultural Code of the Golden Ring,” in which the students will present their own perspectives on the history and culture of Russian cities.
The “Ring of Discoveries” project is implemented by Rosmolodezh as part of the “More Than a Journey” program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and JSC “Russian Railways” under the directive of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
