The routes of the Moscow tram diameters T1 and T2 demonstrate steady growth in demand: passengers make more than 3.5 million trips on them every month. Already in the first weeks after the launch, both directions recorded a doubling of passenger traffic, confirming the citizens’ demand for fast and convenient connections between the districts of the capital.
Today, two tram diameters provide transport connectivity for 20 districts of Moscow. Passengers have access to 41 transfers to the metro, MCC, MCD, and suburban railway, as well as convenient exits to four railway stations. The interval between trams is 6 minutes, and on the common section between the metro stations Krasnoselskaya and Tulskaya, it is only 3 minutes.
Modern fully low-floor trams of Russian manufacture operate on the lines. The vehicles are equipped with a climate control system, USB ports for charging gadgets, and media screens with up-to-date route information. Rolling stock maintenance is carried out under a life cycle contract: the manufacturer and service company are responsible for the technical readiness of each vehicle for 30 years.
“Since the launch of the Moscow Tram Diameters, passengers have made more than 23 million trips on them. This confirms that the new format of traffic organization is in demand by residents and visitors of the city. We will continue to develop the tram infrastructure and improve the quality of service, as instructed by the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
